Why is Karl Rove taking shots at Sarah Palin and Christine O'Donnell?

Karl Rove, Republican political strategist and the general behind George Bush's presidential victories, has been taking pot shots at some conservative favorites.

His latest target, former Alaska governor and Tea Party darling, Sara Palin.

Palin, Mr. Rove told Britain's The Daily Telegraph, lacked the "gravitas" to be president in 2012.

He dissed her new Alaska reality series as a bad political move.

“With all due candour, appearing on your own reality show on the Discovery Channel, I am not certain how that fits in the American calculus of 'that helps me see you in the Oval Office’,” Rove told the Telegraph.

QUIZ: How well do you know Sarah Palin? Take the quiz

Sarah Palin has been an influential player in the midterm elections, traveling and speaking around the United States and endorsing a range of candidates, often the same candidates endorsed by the Tea Party movement. But Palin has not declared herself a candidate in the 2012 presidential election.

How serious is this conservative rift between Rove and Palin?

Rove's views often represent the Republican establishment. And he's got a reputation for knowing how to win. George W. Bush called him "The Architect" of Bush's gubernatorial and presidential victories. Rove also guided the successful campaigns of several governors and members of Congress.

But he's critical of some of the Tea Party-backed candidates endorsed by Palin, including Christine O'Donnell in the Delaware Senate race.

He's not a fan.

“I’ve met her. I wasn’t frankly impressed by her abilities as a candidate,” Rove said on Fox News last month. “One thing that O’Donnell is now going to have to answer in the general election that she didn't in the primary is her own checkered background.”

“There were a lot of nutty things she has been saying that don't add up,” Rove added.

I suspect there's someone behind him:

Rove, was the guy behind the idea that GWB should not hit back at the critics of himself, and the Iraq War, he thought it was “below the dignity of the office”.

Problem with that theory is, America is now very media driven, the “Dignity of the Office” is fine, and needed at official Events, and State Functions, however we also expect to know our politically leaders via the Media.

We may never meet Sarah Palin in person, we can know what color towels are in the bathroom.

Rove attacks conservative GOP women.
It is his way. The GOP must remove him and his employer.

RE: Rove is a self-promoting elite who has lost his relevance.

Then why is Obama himself attacking him? He’s been out of the White House for years.

He will soon be eating his words when Sarah’s Discovery channel show breaks all ratings records for the network.

Could it be to give them cover?

Untaint them from the curious “evil genius” and “stupidity’ of Bush and make them acceptable to moderates and disillusioned Republicans?

The enemy of my enemy is my friend, right?

Otherwise, I just don’t get it.

Taking shots because he loves power as much as any progressive, and Palin and O’Donnell et. al have done it without him and without the RINO club. Nothing like another person making you irrelevant...tends to make one a little grumpy.

You like many others on this site, do not appreciate the magnificent talents of Karl Rove.

Here is a man who can take boring, ho-hum "Sure-Win" races for Republicans and turn them into exciting cliff-hangers ... which the Republican loses!

And while he pulls off these exciting tours de marketing force, he spends hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars .... of our money!

And ... here's where the genius part comes in ... he convinces the RINOs to give him money to do it again! Architect? So's your Aunt Fanny. This guy could have arranged for George Washington to lose. But only if he were to have been paid enough.

He’s attempting to fire up his base of far-left lunatics.

“One thing that O’Donnell is now going to have to answer in the general election that she didn't in the primary is her own checkered background.”

I don't recall her opponent making a big deal about her past. I do recall you doing so Rove. On multiple occasions. Thanks alot ahole. With Republicans like you who needs Democrats. You're toast amongst most conservatives now pal.

And if you think taking on Sarah Palin is a smart idea you are a bigger fool that the MSM played you out to be.

Rove is terrified. He see’s what the future holds for the ruling class, Chex-Pants Republican party that he helped build. You know, the one that was supposed to last decades but lasted a mere 2 years.

Palin and Demint have more influence in their little finger, than Rove has in his entire body.

Rove is the desiginated hatchet man for the ruling class GOP.

“Then why is Obama himself attacking him? “

Because maybe Odumbo is also living in the past and also doesn’t comprehend the average American. The giant has been awakened (and hopefully stays awake)and Odumbo et. al may actual believe Rove had something to do with the tides turning (they need to point the finger at someone identifiable). The RINOs should be as fearful of losing their jobs, power, money, prestige and relevance as any progressive.

“Sean is equally complicit!”

Sean is not the brightest bulb in the box. He knows very little of history or political philosophy. He's got the basics of Conservatism, but not much more.
IMHO Sean is paid above his performance grade.
