Look, I don’t mean to pick nits on an issue which is collateral to the subject of the thread, but as the young man’s employer, Notre Dame is not exposed to lawsuits resulting from his workplace death. You can wish it were otherwise, but workers comp, in one form or antoher, is the law in all 50 states.

Sure its law. And that hasnt stopped the lawsuits or awards.

Mr. Lucky: Proof that the kid was employed by THE UNIVERSITY??? And not by the newspaper separately incorporated or, perhaps, not an employee at all. If the rigging is owned by the university and the university itself is not the employer or the kid is simply a volunteer and not employed relevantly, then the university faces the music. By posting otherwise, you may discourage people from exploring meritorious claims.
