A San Diego police officer was among three people dead in a shootout that sent dozens of residents in their pajamas running from their homes early Thursday.
Officer Christopher Wilson was fatally shot in the confrontation that began Wednesday night, when San Diego County officers and U.S. marshals went to check on a man on probation and serve an arrest warrant on another.
After the man on probation slammed the door in their faces, officers pushed their way into the apartment and arrested him, said Assistant Police Chief Jim Collins. Four other people ran into a back bedroom, including the man police believe was named on the warrant, he said.
Officers got backup from the San Diego police department and then kicked in the door of the bedroom, where they were met with gunfire, Collins said.
Wilson, a 17-year police force veteran, was fatally shot in the living room while three officers fired back. Two officers fled to another bedroom and eventually escaped out a window, Collins said.

sad. It’s too bad we can’t trust our government with summary executions in cases like this.
In this case it doesn’t look like it matters.
Sounds like the shooters are dead.
It’s my hope that the shooter is the one who’s dead. I haven’t seen any confirmation yet.
Absolutely no information about the perps in this case. I wonder if they were Mexican drug dealers. But that’s sheer speculation without more information.
IF that was the case, then it’s about time we stopped coddling these people so they can vote for Democrats. We have enough criminals in the country already, without letting in endless streams of them from other countries. That didn’t used to be what immigration was about.

My decision would be remain indoors, covered & concealed, with a shotgun at my side.
Only after confirming the danger had been totally cleared, would I venture beyond the walls of my home.
Running outside into the night just wearing pajamas doesn't make much sense to me.
God rest his soul.

Sounds like Asian gang bangers.
The dead male's name was Ho Lim Lee (or Holim Lee) and he's an ex-con. No word if he was the shooter or not or the person on the arrest warrant. A female in the apartment was also killed. Lots of firearms found on the scene. Neighbors describe apartment resident as a tattooed Asian male in his 20s.

OK, thanks. I haven’t heard that much about those guys recently, but I suppose they’re still around.
Suspect formerly served in the Coast Guard where he received several commendations including a life-saving citation. Looks like he later got mixed up with drugs, the wrong crowd and a lenient court system.
