Frances Townsend (former Bush Homeland Security Advisor) had a good recap on CNN. She said in the past 24 hrs the intel community got “very specific intel from an ally” about 2 packages shipped from Yemen to the U.S. That started a scramble to search cargo planes, zeroing in on UPS planes “in UK and Dubai.” The UPS planes in Philly & Newark were searched only because they originated in Yemen - no specific intel on them.
Another update just now from Townsend: A worldwide security alert has been issued re: UPS, FedEx, DHL, and all int’l shippers. Intel officials told Townsend that a number of pkgs were found “previously” that may have been trial runs. They think the packages in UK & Dubai may also be trial runs.
"According to CNN...two similar packages are being checked at UK’s East Midlands airport and in Dubai.... According to the BBC, another suspicious item found at UK’s East Midlands airport was not a bomb, but was 'potentially sinister.'"
