I'm sure Gen Custer wasn't worried about the sexual orientation of his troops at the Big Horn. Sometimes, when you are facing impossible odds, you do things that you would not do otherwise.

You couldn't possibly be more WRONG.

Sodomy was illegal in all states until recently. I have no idea what the punishment would have been in the military a century and a half ago, but it would have been brutal (and it's likely that the sodomites wouldn't have survived).
