Republican candidates vying to win Democratic-held Senate seats have inched ahead in two once-deadlocked states and are in virtual ties in two others, four new McClatchy-Marist state polls found Friday.

The polls, taken Oct. 26-28, showed the Wisconsin and Pennsylvania Senate races leaning Republican, while Washington and Colorado remain tossups.

"These are states where Democrats are at best struggling for their political survival," said Lee Miringoff, the director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Republicans are mustering serious challenges in each state by riding the same voter trends: dissatisfaction with the economy and frustration with the Obama administration. Obama carried all four states by big margins in 2008.

The polls also showed that Republican gubernatorial candidates leading in Pennsylvania, where Tom Corbett is ahead, and Wisconsin, where Scott Walker is leading. In Colorado, Democrat John Hickenlooper leads Tom Tancredo, the American Constitution candidate, with Republican Dan Maes far behind.

If we win these 4 states, the Senate, according to Rasmussen’s analysis, would be tied at 50-50. We would need one more turnover for the majority.

The Senate is definitely in play.

I’m all about wresting control from the left-leaning machine but, if the Senate remains Dem, that could be good for our side. I don’t want Obama to benefit from two years of Republican control. I want him to go down in history as an unpopular one-term President and that will require the forgetful press and independents to be reminded on a regular basis of just how far to the left this fool is. If our side takes over, he will find a way (and the press as well) to blame all bad things on the Pubs and still take credit for the good things ( in much the same way that Clinton is credited for having reformed welfare.)

Did they conveniently leave out Michigan and Ohio? The candidate for Michigan Governor is 20 points ahead of his Democratic opponent and Ohio is 4 to 6 ahead, depending on which of the latest polls you follow.

I don’t want Obama to benefit from two years of Republican control.

It's about the Judges.

A Majority in the Senate means a Majority on the Judiciary Committee.

No nominee can be elevated without passing through this committee. This applies to the entire Federal bench.

Obama needs Progressive Judges to complete his legacy. They will protect his agenda for generations.

I stand corrected - elections happen every two to four years - judges are for a lifetime.

I voted early for Tom Tancredo for Colorado Governor, and Ken Buck for U.S. Senate. I hope every Republican\Conservative here in Colorado make sure they vote, and get the word out. Colorado could really use Tom Tancredo and Ken Buck.
