Texas Rangers Notch First World Series Win October 30, 2010 8:55 PM
ARLINGTON (AP) Mitch Moreland hit a three-run homer in the second inning, Josh Hamilton added a solo shot in the fifth and the Texas Rangers beat the San Francisco Giants 4-2 on Saturday night to close to 2-1 in the World Series.
With former President George W. Bush watching from a front-row seat, winner Colby Lewis allowed two runs and five hits in 7 2-3 innings. Neftali Feliz pitched the ninth for the save, completing a five-hitter.
Down 4-0, San Francisco came back on solo home runs by Cody Ross in the seventh and Andres Torres in the eighth.
Loser Jonathan Sanchez gave up four runs, six hits and three walks in 4 2-3 innings.
It was so nice, but at the same time bittersweet, to see President and Laura Bush in the crowd. I miss them tremendously.
Even with Lou Pinella as coach.
Oh well, wait til next year decade century millenia...err...whenever.
The state of Texas didn’t win anything but the Texas Rangers won.The state has nothing to do with MLB I hope.
Yeah, it was really sweet at the end with Laura giving Nolan a kiss on the cheek and Dubya doing the same thing to Nolan’s wife.
I think Pres. Bush is looking ten years younger than when he left the White House. Hope he can throw a strike tomorrow night. Think he can. Obama might bounce one to the mound.
‘Coach’? How old are you? Good grief.
FTFY
Go Giants!
Old ‘stros Rusty Staub, Joe Morgan and the ‘Toy Cannon’, Jimmy Wynn still weep! Well.....maybe not!!!! Remember Mickey and Roger’s ‘fungoing’ up at the new Dome’s lid in pre season’65 BP with the relaive kid Howard Cosell on the mike?!!
Sorry...Manager
