The Democrats usually vote early.

The fact that the GOP is staying close, shows that the Democrats are in trouble.

You say you "earned" your right to vote? Then I can only assume that you, like some of my friends, are a naturalized citizen who worked hard to achieve your American citizenship.

If you're not -- if you're like me, a native-born American who became eligible to vote upon turning 18 -- you didn't "earn" that right, you were blessed with it.

And NO American "earns" the right to jeopardize the integrity of the voting process for the sake of mere personal convenience. One should at least SUSPECT that the whole "early voting" phenomenon is a tool to enable manipulation of votes and voter turnout, since it can really have no other purpose.

Convenience is a function of the competitive marketplace; it is what producers offer the purchasers of their products in a free market to get more customers. Providing convenience is a function of, and one of the most excellent side effects of, capitalism.

VOTING is not presented by, directed by, nor determined by a free market, and when the government strives to present it to you as if it was by striving to make it "convenient," then red flags should be going up all over.

Thank you for your service.

Being enlisted in the military and having the right to vote are not connected (for good or bad) in the U.S. Being enlisted in the miliary has ZERO connection with your right to vote. Someone like me, a middle-aged woman who has never served in the military, has as much a right to vote as someone like my dad, who came close to making the ultimate sacrifice as a Naval officer in WWII.

You didn't "earn" the right any more than I did. You and I were blessed with it in part through the blood of Americans who fought, and for that I am grateful, and I know you are, too.

You were BLESSED with the right to vote. YOU did not earn it, nor did you bequeath MY right to vote to ME. I love members of the military, am married to a veteran, am the daughter of a veteran, have brothers who are veterans, and too many beloved friends to mention who currently serve or are veterans. NOT A SINGLE ONE fancies themself superior to their fellow non-veteran Americans because of it, nor do they think their right to vote has an "earned" quality that mine doesn't because of their military service.

Get off your high horse.

Both of you earned my gratitude and my admiration by serving in the military. Morter, you say I "spit on you" with my post. You spit on every honorable veteran who served when you DEMAND ENTITLEMENT TO my gratitude and thanks and then take for yourself a mantle of supriority over a good portion of your fellow Americans because you wore a uniform and they didn't.

My father would kick your ass for such a presumption, were he young enough, and you'd DESERVE THE ASS KICKING. You are the one spitting on your fellow Americans, not me.

Although you flatter yourself otherwise and feel entitled to something bigger, your service in the military did not earn you a damned thing except the gratitude and admiration of fellow Americans, along with a paycheck and well-deserved self-respect. THAT'S ALL.

You'd still have the right to vote whether or not you'd ever served in the military. Heck, you don't even have to have a high school diploma to vote in America. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is be lucky enough to turn 18. You didn't "earn" the right to vote any more than I did. You were BLESSED with the right to vote, and yet you take credit for it as if YOU had something to do with it! You shame your military service.

So GET OVER YOURSELVES, guys. Service in the military doesn't make you Gods.

Morter, you really should be embarassed and ashamed for such a flaming display of vanity, egotistic pride, and contempt for your fellow Americans.

YOU CHOSE to serve in the military, and for that I'm grateful and for that I admire you. But you are WRONG if you think you're entitled to take credit for providing my right to vote. You are WRONG if you think you "earned" something that all you had to do was be 18 in America to have.

And you are in the WRONG COUNTRY if you think you're entitled to a damned thing from me or any other American.

Have a nice day.

“I personally know at least 5 lifelong Dems who are voting straight “R” this year.”

Within the last two weeks, I’ve met three people who voted D in ‘08, who will vote R this year. They’re not political junkies by any means. My MIL, age 92, knows NOW that the healthcare bill is hurting her. My nephew believed Obama’s promises about a better economy, and it’s worse. A visitor to my home hates how the country is being harmed by illegals.
