Next for GOP leaders: Stopping Palin
YahooNews (Politico) ^ | 10/31/2010 | Jim VandeHei, Mike Allen

Top Republicans in Washington and in the national GOP establishment say the 2010 campaign highlighted an urgent task that they will begin in earnest as soon as the elections are over: Stop Sarah Palin.

Interviews with advisers to the main 2012 presidential contenders and with other veteran Republican operatives make clear they see themselves on a common, if uncoordinated, mission of halting the momentum and credibility Palin gained with conservative activists by plunging so aggressively into this year’s midterm campaigns.

There is rising expectation among GOP elites that Palin will probably run for president in 2012 and could win the Republican nomination, a prospect many of them regard as a disaster in waiting.

She was on Greta last night. She’s has wised up in the last three years about the MSM and Democrats and I think she is beginning to understand the problems with the RINOS. She make a great President.

I see Sarah Palin only getting a stronger more passionate base behind her when she gets attacked by the older established Republicans. Everybody loves a hero, especially when the hero was supposedly killed but regains more strength and returns. Its going to happen, we cannot stop it and when it does happen it will be a good thing for America. Because it will expose those that have aligned with powers against the Constitutionality of the United States of America.

If the GOP “stops” Palin, then WE will “stop” the GOP.

The GOP needs the conservatives. The conservatives, while the hill will be much harder to climb without the organization of a major party, can win without the GOP.

Sarah is getting stronger for having been the VP candidate with McCain. Every since then she has been attacked by all parties.

She has as a private citizen done more for America than any one of the Elite Democrats, or Elite Republicans. She has always been presidential, moral and honorable in spite of the pettiness and trash thrown towards her. I admire her for what she has done and am grateful and in awe of her power and capabilities.

The politicians don’t like that she is who she is and they are powerless to stop her. The more they come after Sarah the more they expose themselves for what they really are.

She will have a lot of crap tossed at her after 11/3/2010 and she will keep looking better and better each time.

Maybe he is smart enough to see the writing on the wall and doesn’t want to suffer the fate of the RINOs. That would be a good thing, and he would seem a bit more believable than say a Crist

Aahh yes, Carl Rove. As someone else said (and I wish I’d thought of it) our Joe Biden.

The biggest difference is, we didn't elect Rove to anything. We're not stuck with him, so if he's no longer useful, we can put him out on the curb.

Maybe it's time he learned that. The hard way, if necessary.

Just want to remind the interbred hierarchy of the Republican Party...

I cling to my guns and religion...

I will NOT vote for Romney.

I agree with him that anyone who wants to run should run. They should get out there and participate in the campaigns and debates. No one should try to obstruct the fair process.

Speaking of that, the thing people should be more concerned about is the primary process. We saw in 2008 that most GOP voters never had their real choices considered. If that doesn’t change, we are always going to get the liberal choice as a candidate.

Remember when the Repubs up here turned on Palin and cranked up the campaign to destroy her political future; back around 2001-2002. She ended up sending a bunch of them off to the big house and sent the rest into political obscurity. It took Parnell being Gov for the corruption to show it's filthy face again.

Palin will do it again to the Rove types, he ain't even in the same league with Palin. Palin has the people.

One of my buddies who was at Thurs evening show for Miller in Anch told me that Old Randy Ruederich was standing in the crowd supporting Miller, imagine that????? Maybe there's hope for some in that good old boy repub network up here.

Not a smart move by the “establishment.” The conservative base will not stand for this and if the base didn’t support Palin now then after these attacks happen she will find herself with new supporters and even become a stronger candidate for 2012.

I think McCain himself wishes he never opened the Pandora’s Box of Palin, but folks like me are sure glad he did.

It seems kind of like an old story - our greatest disappointment unleashes the very force that could save the party, counter to everything he's trying to do.

I hope he gets to see her election to POTUS in 2012. Justice would be served...

"Someone's afraid...someone's very afraid."

With reason. Palin eviscerated the Republican "old boys" corruption network in Alaska. A big part of the Alaskan campaigns against all things Palin centers on those same "Republicans" looking for revenge for her having pulled them off the teat.
