Why the Conservative Wave Will Be Larger Than Expected - Much Larger
Fox News Poll ^ | 11/1/10 | self

As a student of human nature and politics, I've come to the decision that \Tuesday's victory will be much larger than anyone anticipates. Aside from the increased and steady momentum the Republicans have, one big point has yet to be covered, but keep your eyes on the western returns later in the evening.

Human Nature is a wonderful thing, and very predictive. Remember back in 2000 when the networks tried to steal the election for AL Gore in Florida? They announced early that Florida was firmly in Gore's camp, and called it. What the forgot to tell us was that the panhandle was an hour behind and the polls were still open.

There were reports that hundreds of voters either left the long lines, or turned around and went home. This surely would have added hundreds if no thousands of more votes to George Bush's total, and would have avoided the post-election circus that ensued.

Fast Forward to tomorrow. As the early states close at 7 or 8PM, and the Republican landslide becomes evident, I can see where thousands of voters in later time zones who were going to halfheartedly vote for their 'rat of choice, just stay home.

How many? Who knows. But what if 5% decide it isn't worth their time? There is already a huge enthusiasm gap working against the Democrats. If they lose another 5%, we're looking at 100-150 seats in the House, and 10-13 seats in the Senate, plus numerous state offices and legislatures.

I'm doing my part here in Maine to discourage many of my Democrat friends that the best way to send a message to their leadership is to sit on their hands. I'll let you know if it works.

Operation Demoralize is on!

Oh, and what ever happened to all those people who wanted to get rid of the Electoral College and go with the popular vote? Haven’t heard much about that lately.

To Dem lurkers: It’s hopeless. Do yourself a favor and stay home with a good movie or two. It will be a long night.

Founders instituted electoral college for a good reason. Amazing how prescient they were.

As the Victory for America party begins sweeping across the fruited plain at 7:00 or 8:00 PM EDT from east to west, great scenes of jubilation should crop up on TV sets across the land, encouraging western voters to join the wave. Be on the winning side, Colorado, California and Washington state, and don’t let anything keep you from those late-closing polls. You’ll be glad you helped save the USA.

Remember, today is check day for what easily could be 60%+ of the Obama/Dem voting block. In about six hours they’ll be so drunk they’ll forget to vote tomorrow. The only thing on their minds will be the second check that comes on Wednesday. Half of them don’t care that there’s an election tomorrow.

I think it will be much larger victory as human decency has been set aside by the Dems to promote their favorite bills. Just think:

> Democrats refused to hold any type of townhall meetings after last summer’s fiascos in which concerned citizens were giving legitimate pummeling of their representative’s stance on Obamacare

>the uncontrolled spending by Dems when in the midst of spiraling debt would never be done by a household

> the obvious, in-your-face takeover of the auto companies and handover to the unions

> the stimulus spending which was said to go to shovel-ready projects now we find out a year later went to no shovel-ready projects, but mating studies of king crab and dance-hall lessons in Chicago.

> the indecency of people like Obama to declare Americans are just stupid and have too many sins, of Harry Reid who declares America cannot win a war, and of Nancy Pelosi who wants a bill to pass so “we can find out what’s in it”

> The wanton trashing of the laws of this land by DC who thinks the invasion by foreigners should prompt a lawsuit on people affected by the invasion, not to stop the invasion

> the stupidity of an administration who looks the other way when voters are intimidated if the intimidators are black, who decide what that the air we all exhale is dangerous and needs to be regulated, who take our friends like the Poles and trash them over missle defense.

The elite class is at odds with the values of the majority of Americans, and it will not be a time that empathy should be extended toward any Democrat or Republican who decides that they know better than American citizens.

I haven’t heard anyone mention that the majority of the Democrats left on Wednesday will be moderates.... people who probably didn’t vote for HealthCare the first time around and who would be sympathetic to repealing it.

Passage of a repeal could be a possibility in the House.

Or am I just crazy?

Exactly right!

Our founders were scholars of the day. Their brilliance has shown bright for over 225 years.

It is not their vision that has been tarnished by time, but rather our people’s understanding of their vision.

Their ideals are as brilliant today as they were at our founding. In fact I would say they are even more-so, as time has proven them right beyond a shadow of a doubt.

If we had held true to the U. S. Constitution, we wouldn’t be in the mess we are today.

Franklin Roosevelt was a bane on this nation. His name should be forever tied to infamy. Lyndon Johnson would be the second person I would grant that honor, for what he ushered in along socialist lines.

I think there’s a possibility of it. Obama would veto it. After 2012, it’s a done deal if dynamics hold up.

Still, the Republicans are masters of pulling defeat from the jaws of victory. If they just implement their ‘better plan’ to nationalize, we’re sunk.

Government MUST be removed from the equation entirely.

Yep. But if you will permit me to move completely into the fantasy world and to also ignore the realities of a Senate that may not have the votes in the first place:

Would a coalition in the House of moderate Dems, new Tea Party legislators, and the overall Republican majority make up a super-majority that could over-turn a Presidential veto?

Sorry, but you’re probably just crazy. Lots of the defeated will be Blue Dogs who voted against healthcare. The remaining Democrat rump is likely to be even more liberal. In any event, there’s no hope this go-round because of O’Bummer and the Senate. We probably have to wait until 2012 unless the Republicans lose their nerve and work some sort of “compromise” with the Dear Leader.

I hear ya, but I’m watching these races nation-wide - even Barney Frank has moved to the right in the past month (at least “to the right” for him).

Writing that the majority of the Democrats left in the House will be “even more Liberal” may be assuming too much and ignoring the current political reality.

Of course, I can be wrong as well.

It wasn’t just the Florida outcome the MSM tried to derail with their premature announcement. I remember I was on my way to vote after work (here in Los Angeles) when local radio called Florida for Gore. Election over. Gore president. Nearly just went on home without voting, but there were other CA issues on the ballot, so I dragged myself to the polls anyway.

Imagine how many thousands — millions? — of Californians and Western state residents just didn’t bother to vote after that, and can you blame them? I believe there should be NO RESULT ANNOUNCEMENTS until every single poll closes in every state and time zone. We can wait five or six hours, for crying out loud, and it would go a long way toward blunting the MSM’s ability to “push” results at the ballot box the way they do with opinion polls.

Well, that’s an intersting dynamic to ponder. It just depends if the remaining Democrats are truly moderates, or sit there and dig in their heels.

Remember 2/3rds of the Senators aren’t standing for election this year. Hopefully we can lop off a lot more of them in 2012.

Don’t forget though, McCain will have his clique of Senators chomping at the bit to defeat Conservatives and strike a deal before they can negotiate the shoals.

We’ll just have to wait and see what dynamics emerge in the wake of this election.

This is where a guy like McCain can really wreak havoc. I fear we will soon learn what a terrible mistake it was to return that SOB to the Senate.

“I haven’t heard anyone mention that the majority of the Democrats left on Wednesday will be moderates.... people who probably didn’t vote for HealthCare the first time around and who would be sympathetic to repealing it.”

I don’t think that’s true. The “moderates” are getting knocked off right and left. Rats in solid gerrymandered left-wing house districts (a disproportionate number of which are black or hispanic due to courts requiring safe minority seats) tend to be very radical. I think, overall, the rats in the house will be considerably more radical next session than the current session.

The Senate is a harder call on that issue because you can’t gerrymander a state wide election. Both R and D establishment guys will be looking over their shoulders and pretending to be more conservative than they really are.

In fact, one of the nastiest possible developments would be for the establishment guys in both parties to make sure that hot-button issues don’t get a floor vote or, if they do, it’s a voice vote so we can’t pin the vote on the establishment guys. So we need to be screaming when we hear about voice votes.

I think it is a little different this time around and I think your analogy is reversed.

2000 was a national election where information about a particular state caused voters to not vote. This time, you are saying that in a local (state) election, national results will cause voters to not vote. Maybe. But I think people voting in WA won't really care how WV votes.
