The California dream...
I've been trying to hammer this home to conservatives for years. The problem isn't just illegals, it's immigration in general, because 90% of the world is economically to the left of a center-left American. The more we let in the more headwinds we face.
Of the 5 major parties in Mexico, one is Maoist, one is Communist, two are members of the Socialist International and the one that's considered their right wing party is about what one would see in a European Social Democrat party. And Conservatives think these people will vote for the Right? They're nuts. If they were ever going to, they would be voting that way at home.
The Germans who came early were to the left of the Anglo founding stock. The Irish who followed them were to the left of the Germans. The next wave of Germans was to the left of those Irish. The Eastern Europeans, Southern Europeans and Scandanavians who came in the next two waves were to the left of all that proceeded.
The vast majority of the white, urban left we face today is descended from the last wave of European immigration and the new immigrants are allying with them for the most part.
It looks to take about 4 generations before a family line starts to split up evenly left and right. We don't have that much time.
1. Most people in this state don't remember him or were not around when he was Governor.
2.Since all the private sector jobs are gone in California the government employees are a huge force so the union thugs are paid to campaign and they control some polling sites.
3. The young Mexican population is like a political tsunami. Their population is growing exponentially. They are well informed by the Spanish speaking media to vote for Dems for welfare benefits and amnesty for their parents.
I would like to leave the state if Jerry Brown gets in and if voters pass prop 25 (a simple majority vote to pass more taxes). The liberal commies will raise taxes and destroy the protections of prop 13, raising property taxes “for the children”. Unfortunately I am anchored to a financially upside down house that can't be sold without a huge loss.
This is where the rubber meets the road. What are they going to do? Would they really let a state default? They should, but it would definitely be painful to watch. If California defaults we're all going to suffer. Same for Illinois.
Without a bailout, 5 to 10 states are going to default in the next 5-7 years. It's a mathematical certainty.
The Republicans caved for the banks and Fannie and Freddie; I don't have much faith.
I don't think many people on the left or right, realize just how much government needs to be slashed to stave off a disaster. A trillion dollar cut tomorrow at the federal level still leaves nearly a half-trillion deficit. Does anyone get this? This is before most of the boomers collect a dime in SS or Medicare.
Don't be too sure, there are many of us in Kaleephornya who hate the insolence, the smarmy-ness, the wasteful behavior and hypocrisy of the left.
A few more years, we're out of here, too. Let the little bastards feed themselves and clean their own messes.
He is not running on lower taxes. He says he will only raise taxes if the taxpayors approve. In otherwards he knows that a majority of the people here are not that smart
and will vote to raise other peoples taxes and he will try to get around Prop 13. People here if the hear the words
For children they vote Yes like zombies-—
The cities have voter fraud machinery. A lot of illegals vote via that machinery.
It will take a generation for the immigrants to wise up and see that the Dems just bring more economic woes not more handouts in the end. Their media is biased, too. They have no Spanish language FOX News to balance what they hear.
Well, well, well!!!
Not in Texas they don’t.
It really is a shame they don’t split California in two. North Cali is the polar opposite of South Cali and falls short of the numbers to challenge the strong hold the libs seem to have down there. I have been praying all day for the outcome of these elections and just for once in my life time I’d love to see filth be defeated in my own state. Boxer needs to be upset and removed ASAP. Jerry Brown running for Gov again after all these years is painfully humorous. He was a walking joke when I was a child and he had the job. I’m stunned he’s asking for the job once again. His final TV ad’s are pathetic. I’ll be honest I’m not the greatest fan of Megs but I voted for her. In their last debate through all the muck it was clear she could make a difference as compared to a pro politician who has no set idea what in hell to do except tax and b.s. legislature doing nothing for this state.
You forgot number 4. The Cali state Unions have waged an all out war to get this man elected. The daily crap coming in the mail and phone calls are non stop demanding on behalf of the hardworking Cali citizen to vote Democrat. It’s such an endless mindscrew where the blind buy the slop. You can’t rationalize with a person who falls for all the B.S.
We don't all “act like uneducated adolescents”.
If I'm not mistaken our great Jim Robinson lives and breathes here.
Our problems are many when it comes to voting.
Immigrants who tow the line and vote for Dems because that is what they are told to do.
Many young people are told to get into some kind of activism, (environmental, social, animal, etc.). Then of course they are made to believe Repubs hate trees and babies and puppies. So of course they vote Dem.
Hippies from the 60’s who wandered here and never left. Their deep brainwashing happened so long ago, I believe voting Democrat is like breathing air for them.
And lastly you have the uppity, rich, dogooders, who want the world to believe they are good and money hasn't changed them......so they vote Dem. (This of course includes many in Hollywood)
But after you take away all the above, you are left with some amazing, hardworking, family oriented conservatives.
We vote conservative just like you.
I just pray our numbers out number the leftists.
I will not give up on California. We will win her back someday.
I hear you Aurorales, but the dysfunction is so deep I wonder if what you wish is possible.
I suppose it’s a little like waiting for a drug addict to hit bottom and finally do something effective to turn their life around. It may or may not happen. One thing I’m certain of and that is the money will run out. California’s economy will crash if voters there keep electing people like Ahnold, Boxer and Moonbeam. Again, the economic crash is only a matter of time. As much as you love the area you live in the question is will you live to see the rebirth?
I fled NJ precisely for that reason. Gov. Christy is doing many things to try to fix the state. But I’m 67 living on fixed income. I couldn’t afford to wait for things to materially change. Now live in SC. Property taxes went from over $7000/year to under $1000 and next year, because of senior allowance, my income tax will be even lower. All insurances went down—significantly. Food is a bit more expensive, but we are finding ways to mitigate that. Point is the tax and insurance savings is real money in our pockets. We’ll be able to do more traveling to visit the children and grandchildren. But most importantly, we will no longer have to make up our income deficit from savings/investments. This translates to more money we can leave to our family members.
All of the above assumes, of course, the defeat of the Usurping Marxist Onada’s agenda.
