A Palin presidential candidacy, Politico tells us, gives the GOP establishment a near-fatal case of hives.........

If memory serves......
The "GOP establishment" of its day thought much the same of Theodore Roosevelt.......

Not to mention Ronald Reagan, in his day.

“The “GOP establishment” of its day thought much the same of Theodore Roosevelt.......”

And they were absolutely right about TR. He was the prototypical RINO, the founder of the progressive GOP tradition that saddled us with John McCain, both Bushes, Nixon Eisenhower, Dewey, Wilke, Landon and Hoover. TR is ultimately responsible for today's GOP establishment with it's visceral hostility to everything Governor Palin represents. Just like the RINO’s of today, he left the party when he couldn't win its nomination. Let's hope Linda Morcowspleez and Charlie Crist aren't as successful at torpedoing Republicans as he was. If he had won in 1912 he would have done even more damage than Wilson.

If you want to compare Sarah Palin with some icon, how about a conservative. Reagan and Coolidge come to mind. GOP bigshots thought they were both ignorant rubes and they turned out to be by far the two best Presidents of the 20th Century.

And so do I. He may have charged up San Juan Hill, but TR was a terrible president. A statist from stem to stern. Thought that people's money ought be just be confiscated by the government. Remember his "Progressive" party?
