ENTHUSIASTIC baseball fans have revelled in San Francisco following the World Series win of the city's Giants.

Fistfights broke out and a mattress went up in flames in the Mission District as riot police tried to control what officers officially declared an "unlawful assembly", the Contra Costa Times reported.

People flooded the South of Market district around AT&T Park within minutes of the final pitch before the San Francisco Giants beat the Texas Rangers. Crowds gathered in the streets, obstructing traffic, and spraying champagne and beer.

Police found a car with slashed tires and a smashed windshield in the Mission District and firefighters were treating a person who was in the passenger seat, apparently unconscious.

Apparently the riots in San Francisco aren't worthy of coverage by the US media, but are worth covering in Australia.

How might this effect the elections if at all?

Well it could depress turnout in San Fran.

On the other hand, people in San Fran are happy.

There’s a lot happening, not being covered by the media, being covered by twitter.

Carjackings, 1 stabbing, 2 shootings.

This was Rove’s plan all along; have Texas take a dive last night, so the San Fran freaks are to hung-over to vote today. Look for a Republican sweep of California!

(Wishful thinking, but a possible silver lining to the Texas loss...)

Let’s hope the pervert voters for Pelosi will sleep in today.
I’m happy I’m in Texas, where our teams lose but our politicians win.

Not that it's ever stopped them from voting before.
