The USCG tried these in the 80’s and finally scrapped them all with nothing to show but crewman with profound hearing loss and blown out knees. Hopefully they’ve solved the noise/vibration problems.

You mentioned the USCG trying these. With all due respects to the Norwegians, fine people, my wife is of Norwegian descent (I must be careful here), why is this a Navy patrol boat? and not a Coast Guard patrol boat? Are litoral patrol boats the Norwegian Navy?

Which vessel class was that? I don’t recall any surface effect cats in the USCG.

(NOT hovercraft. NOT hydrofoils. NOT SWATH ships.)
