Actually, mine was quite differrent from previous elections.
Normally quite place. But today everyone was happy and loved my flag tee shirt.
made me feel good.
Blue collar southern Milwaukee suburb. We have contested governor and senate races, but nothing in congress.
Heavier turnout than usual for mid-term election. Not as busy as 2004 election, but lots of people voting — about 40% of the precinct had already voted by 2:30pm.
It’s a swing, Reagan Democrat district. It really depends on who they vote for.
Voted for one democrat — the sheriff, who has spoken at Tea Party rallies.
Where are you!? Kayenta?
I drove by a couple of polling places about an hour ago. One was in an elementary school and had a few signs out an not a lot of traffic as best I could tell. The other was in a church facility on a corner lot which had lots of signs on both streets and a couple of people walking with signs. The lot had a few cars but still plenty of parking space.
Bucks County, PA reporting here. Voted at 2:00 p.m. in a very Republican precinct. Turnout SIGNIFICANTLY higher so far than in 2006. Our Congressional candidate, Mike Fitzpatrick, is reporting several precincts abandoned by Democrats. Mine was one of them! Very different from past years - while this is a Republican precinct, there are quite a few vocal “latte liberals” around here, and they are always at the polls. Not today! I think Democrats are desperate and sending all hands to Philadelphia to try to boost Democrat turnout there.
I voted around 11, not crowded at all. Most of the voters there were older black women. I was the only white voter at the time. However, it was pouring rain then, and it appeared that quite a few people had already voted. All the poll workers were black.
Right before I left home, I received an automated call from Travis Childers (the Dem) about a cookout he was giving across from one of the polls. Didn’t catch which one, but if they were not in a covered place, they were out of luck, because it has literally poured all day.
One comment about the voting in my small town: I have never yet been to vote without noticing how friendly black and white people are to each other. Almost without exception. The women working at my table were smiling and very polite. Always are. I would not like living anywhere that the situation was not the same.
Just got back. It was quiet, but it was before lunch...a handful of people there trickling in. I was more surprised how old school the setup was, in 03 we had electronic machines but now it’s back to pen n paper on rickety tables that barely stood.
Voted in suburban Cook County. Mostly seniors were voting. More people there than during a presidential election. I heard the election judge telling a senior couple that they did not vote for any of the judges. They confirmed that, saying they didn’t want to vote yes or no for people they don’t know anything about. The judge told them they should vote no or the vote is counted as a yes. I said I thought a judge had to get 60% of the total vote, so a non-vote would essentially be a no? She said no, they had to be marked a no to count as a no. Can someone clarify this?
There was a short line right after lunch here at my precinct - suburban, north central Louisiana. I asked the commissioner if he’s seeing people vote that he hasn’t seen in a while, to which he said yes.
Mostly “African-American” district in Grand Rapids, MI.
Short lines. Almost empty. I voted at 2:00pm, and was only #372. This district had huge lines in 2008.
The urban-hipster types that were prevalent in 2008 seemed few and far between this time. I didn't see a lot of Volvos and Subarus in the parking lot either.
Voted straight R all the way, and went with McClintock 100% on the CA propositions.
Southern Apache county.
Voted in a library in Christiansburg, VA (VA-9). Mostly people over 50 except for myself and my wife (early-mid 30s). Not many there, no wait. Went back later to pick something up from the library and it was more crowded, but still with older folks. Heard one of the Boucher poll workers out front arguing with a Griffith one saying she didn’t care about coal workers losing their jobs because of cap and tax (she was a teenager wearing a VT hoodie and had dyed hair). Says that just doesn’t matter to her. Sad, sick people.
I am in Stafford, VA and at 7AM (I have Tuesdays off) I was the only voter in the place.
Since most of the folks here start their commute at 4AM or so I expect the turnout to be much bigger when they start coming home around 4PM.
I would say the same about turn out. However, I got a robo-call from our Mayor asking us to vote for our 20 year incumbent Congressman Rob Andrews. If this guy is having trouble in Chicagoland II, this wave is going to about 10 feet higher then I thought. And this will be a very memorable election for me because my beautiful daughter voted in her 1st election. I am so proud of her. She helped our local Tea Party candidate at the train station, which required her to get up super early. When the man at the voting booth found out it was her 1st time voting he yelled out to everyone and then said, “We’ll we will be blaming you for our problems”. So I had to respond and said “NO, you will be thanking her for saving you.”
Keep an eye out for people at the polls with cellphones. The DUmmies said the cellphone people are going to cause the “upset” tonight because the pollsters never called them. LOL!!! Beware the cellphone people! Only DemocRATS have cellphones! LOL!
I voted this morning about 6:30 here in NW IL. Parking lot was almost full, and there were a lot of people inside waiting to vote. Good turnout.
No lines, due to plenty of booths. Very busy parking lot, but so many precincts were voting in this one place that I couldn’t say whether it is a big turnout or not, given the large geographical area served.
My polling place is not the one nearest my house. They did something weird in arranging the precincts and sent our neighborhood voters up the hill into the “rich people” neighborhood to vote at a hard to find location. Very annoying.
