How can we win the Gov. seat and not win the Senate seat!

Sestak killed Toomey over his Wall Street connections, and since there is a large retired military population living in the Commonwealth, I’m willing to bet that they accepted his U.S. Navy Admiral resume without looking too closely and discovering that he got fired and demoted before leaving the service.

Really? I just heard on the radio that Sestak was well ahead of Toomey and that it was all but over.

That's a good question, but there's an easy answer for it. Pennsylvania is a heavily Democratic state, but in this election cycle the races for state-level offices has been dominated by issues that are different from the national scene. This guy Corbett apparently won handily because he's the former Pennsylvania attorney general who successfully prosecuted a bunch of state legislators over the last couple of years.

On that basis alone, this race is remarkably similar to the successful campaign last year in New Jersey by former Federal prosecutor Chris Christie.

Don’t panic just yet. According to NYT election page Toomey is now up 51.8% to 48.2% with 96% precincts reporting. He is going to win it in the end.

Sestak was leading for much of the evening, but some astute Pennsylvania Freepers pointed out that most of the districts that hadn’t yet reported were heavily Republican.

Big cities (like Philly) reported first, the western countries are mostly conservative and those votes came in last.
