WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says lawmakers of both parties need to start working together now that Republicans have reduced the Democrats' dominance in the chamber.

Reid said on NBC's "Today" show that he planned to speak Wednesday with Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on ways to "build a consensus and move this country along."

Senate Democrats lost at least six seats on Election Day, but narrowly held their majority.

We’ll compromise with you, just like you compromised with us.

the sarcasm tag

Not necessary. Play the post backwards. There's an ironic pessimist realist tag in there somewhere.

I try to see a silver lining in any cloud. The one I see here in Reid winning reelection is that Chuckie boy Schumer will be denied becoming Senate Majority Leader.

Legislatively, it won’t matter if he kills it; the House can keep damaging legislation out of the Senate.
That will leave the Democrats in control of judges and foreign policy, though.

yes but at least now there’s a margin of a few votes when the need to work up a filibuster should arise

for the past 2 years the sob sisters from Maine exercised inordinate control over R. prospects in the Senate

now at least it’s possible to block things whether or not they are onboard

All I heard in 2008 was MANDATE MANDATE MANDATE!

If the rats win by a small margin, its a mandate, if the conservatives win by a thumping, we have to work together?

As that fat comedian says ... “Nay nay”

I may have posted this before and it deserves being said again for Reid, that you can wish in one hand and $hit in the other to see which one fills the fastest.

That’s always the way isn’t it? If the Dimwits win they “won!” and we have to cave into them(in their minds), but if they are in the minority, well then the republicans have to “compromise” with them. If these a**hats we elected this round don’t tell them to shove it and do what’s right then out they go also.

I say provoke him to do it. Worst case: no filibuster against us in 2012.
