Syracuse, NY -- Republican Ann Marie Buerkle surged ahead of U.S. Rep. Dan Maffei by 659 votes this afternoon in the 25th Congressional District race after Wayne County reported its unofficial results.

Buerkle sealed her victory in the western part of the district with a convincing win in Wayne County, trouncing Maffei 15,429 (63 percent) to 9,191 (37 percent), according to returns Wayne County released at about 5:30 p.m.

Before Wayne County reported its results -- more than 20 hours after polls closed -- Maffei held on to a slim lead of about 5,600 votes from the other three counties in the district.

This is good news. It counterbalances CA-11 where the Dem took a 121 vote lead.

We are on pace for R+65.

There are still 11 House races that are too close to call.

Is the headline wrong or is the story wrong...did this flip to R leading or the other way around?

The title says the seat switched from R to D. That isn’t what you meant? (Scared me, lol)

Uh, the title is a little off. Should say switch from D to R. You gave me a heartattack thinking we had lost a seat.

“We are on pace for R+65.”

Just Dang.

Kind of restores my faith in the intelligence of American voters.

Does +65 include three Republican loses (DE, HI, LA)?

“...meaning absentee ballots will decide the election over the next three weeks.”

And now we know why the military ballots were not sent out.

Does anybody know if the issue of military ballots was resolved in this district or were the soldiers denied the vote?

If the military did get to vote, we may be in good shape here.

Otherwise, we can kiss it goodbye because the main use of absentee ballots is democrat vote fraud. They can manufacture a thousand false votes without breaking a sweat.

We lost 3 GOP seats, and have picked up or are leading in 66 Democrat seats, for a net +63.
The most tenuous leads are Walsh (IL) +553, Farenthold (TX) +799 and Buerkle.

It’s also possible we that Koster in WA (trailing by 397) and Harmer in CA can still win.

It’s nice to get at least 1 of those former special election seats! 1 of 3. Critz and Owens unfortunatly won.

Right now we're at +63 after WA 2 switched to the Democrats. CA 11 did as well. The Rats lead that one by 121 votes.
