Reuters) - A chastened President Barack Obama on Wednesday pledged to seek compromise with Republicans who won big in congressional elections and admitted he had lost touch with voters who delivered a "shellacking" to him and his Democrats.

But on issue after issue, Obama gave little ground on his positions as the two sides gear up for negotiations over how to tackle the sluggish economy, the main reason the electorate has soured on his leadership

He said he did not believe the U.S. election result was a repudiation of his sweeping healthcare overhaul.

LOL, he still doesn't get it, bring on 2012!

And Obama conceded that his chances of getting Congress to pass comprehensive climate change legislation, strongly opposed by Republicans, were "doubtful" for the rest of his term.

Good, let's put this AGW crap to bed for good!

..."the main reason the electorate has soured on his leadership..."

I was thinking it was his "socialization" of everything he touched.

IOW, Obama got his ass kicked worse than Clinton in 1994, but if anything, will move farther to the left. Congrats, Zero—you’ve just sealed your fate as a one-termer.

I said back in ‘08 that human messiahs tend to start acting more human than messiah and it’s at that point that the charade is over. I didn’t think it would only take two years (although a long two years it’s been).

Zero has two more years to re-invent himself, and that shouldn’t be too difficult for a man who’s merely an invention himself, a false idol made of wood that promised to be everything to everyone and ended up delivering on none of it. Truly a Greek tragedy and comedy all wrapped up in one man’s unbelievable life. He’ll certainly write books when it’s all over, but perhaps this time he’ll write them from the perspective of experience, and here’s praying that the lessons of humility sink in over the next two years. I doubt it, however, and the man that was given the Nobel Prize for his “potential” will end up like a game show contestant that lost it all on the final question—forever going over it again and again wondering how it all went so wrong.

Shellac is a resin secreted by the female lac bug, on trees in the forests of India and Thailand. It is processed and sold as dry flakes (pictured at right), which are dissolved in denatured alcohol to make liquid shellac, which is used as a brush-on colorant, food glaze and wood finish. Shellac functions as a tough all-natural primer, sanding sealant, tannin-blocker, odor-blocker, stain, and high-gloss varnish. Shellac was once used in electrical applications as it possesses good insulation qualities and it seals out moisture. Gramophone (or phonograph) discs were also made of it during the pre-1950s, 78-rpm recording era.

Shellac is often the only historically appropriate finish for early 20th-century hardwood floors, and wooden wall and ceiling paneling.

From the time it replaced oil and wax finishes in the 19th century, shellac was the dominant wood finish in the western world until it was replaced by nitrocellulose lacquer in the 1920s and 1930s.

No matter Barack, Party on!
Load up 40 planes and head to India to show us you “care” about the use of fossil fuels.

While you are there, give alms to a beggar girl.
