The White House will, of course, stay in Washington but the heart of the famous building will move to India when President Barack Obama lands in Mumbai on Saturday.
Communications set-up, nuclear button, a fleet of limousines and majority of the White House staff will be in India accompanying the President on this three-day visit that will cover Mumbai and Delhi.
He will also be protected by a fleet of 34 warships, including an aircraft carrier, which will patrol the sea lanes off the Mumbai coast during his two-day stay there beginning Saturday. The measure has been taken as Mumbai attack in 2008 took place from the sea.

That is 3,000 people going with him PLUS the thousands of navy personnel on the 34 ships. The cost of this trip to the Indians will probably match our costs.

No, what I am saying is that budgetary constraints have translated into not enough diesel for training cruises for future Navy and Marine Corps officers.
It seems to me that using Navy funds for 34 warships to secure the area for a presidential entourage of 3000 on a trip to India and Indonesia might not be the best way to spend the Navy’s limited money when we are already fighting a two-front war.
What is the reason for this trip, anyway?
While they’re at it they should bring over a couple space shuttles to do a fly over of the Taj Mahal.

And no, I have no idea what the trip is about. I work with state government, sort of, and I told my boss about this. He put forward the theory that it was a natural evolution of planning some kind of international economic cooperation plan that would help stimulate our economy. Hence the hundreds of executives (and all their support systems and personnel), as they would be the key “bridge-builders” for a new level of business cooperation between the US and India. Nice theory, but so out of character for the Shellacked One I can’t quite picture it as true.
And we know that in any “deal” with India we would just get the shaft. They think we are suckers... well... cause we are.
What is going on here?
It does appear that he and his cronies desire to be away when something happens in the U.S.A. Narcissism is one explanation, but he certainly does NOT need that much protection! Insane waste of money.

Sounds very much like my last boss, a little like my current one. Both, I am certain, grew up being told that they were special. The current one, I swear has never talked to me in almost four years without being motivated by creating an opportunity to talk about himself.
