Post Election, Obama Sets Date for Bipartisan Talks at The White House ( Lame Duck Session talks)

Noting that the dust is still settling after Election Day, President Obama said that it is “critically important” over the coming months to create “a better working relationship” between the White House and Congressional leadership.

In the aftermath of Tuesday's election, which flipped control of the House of Representatives over to the Republicans, President Obama announced that he has invited John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi to the White House for bipartisan meetings in the first week of the lame duck session, on Thursday, November 18th.

“This is going to be a meeting in which I want us to talk substantively about how we can move the American people's agenda forward,” Obama said from the Cabinet Room of the White House this morning, “It's not just going to be a photo-op. Hopefully it may spill over into dinner.”

Mr. Obama said there is a whole range of work that needs to get done in a relatively short period of time and is looking forward to hearing from the leadership the agenda items they may be concerned about.

The president said the immediate focus during these meetings will be on what needs to get done during the lame duck session – and ticked though a few of those priorities – tax cuts, unemployment insurance, and business extenders.

Obama’s version of bipartisan talks: “SHUT UP AND DO WHAT I SAY!”

He’s such a diplomat.

Script for Mitch and John:

“Mr. President, in light of the clear message of the recent election, there should be no legislative activity during this lame duck session, other than making ALL the current tax rates PERMANENT.”

Is he going to wear his "I won" sign on his forehead??

Don't let him kid you. In addition to the damage he's already done to this country, he's gonna want "revenge".

There's a reason that Rahm and a couple of others are back in Chicago and it's not about being "mayor".

Me thinks Obama will simply ignore Congress and start "ruling" via Presidential Edicts.

Right! Nothing except a continuous filibuster should occupy Senate thoughts and deeds, until the new “crew” comes on-board. Seriously. Shut off the lights and heat to the Senate hall, put dust covers on the chairs, and put up signs that say, “Wet wax: stay out until January!”

Obama is all about compromise and working with the other party when he loses.

I remember something about “elections have consequences, I won.”

Republicans need to pretend they care what Obama has to say. They have to look diplomatic for the State Run Media. But, if they let their guard down, Obama and the SRM will hammer them.

how we can move the American people's agenda forward

First things, first, Mr. Obama. Before you start talking about "moving things forward," it is my deepest hope that the new Republican leadership tell you what they think the American people's agenda is. Hint: it doesn't include Obamacare, unproven electric cars, green technology, or higher taxes (in any shape and form).

Once you agree to that, then you can talk about moving things forward.

“Noting that the dust is still settling after Election Day, President Obama said that it is “critically important” over the coming months to create “a better working relationship”

Does that mean he will learn some of the names with the funny “R” after them?

He’ll take the locks off the conference room doors?

I sincerely hope and pray that the Repubs are going to be far better prepared — and far more forceful — than they were the last two times Obama summoned them for a Royal Audience.

On both of those occasions, they allowed King Barack to use them as pawns while he put on a tour-de-force show of his total control over all around him. With few exceptions, the thoroughly cowled Repubs sat on their hands, looking like deer caught in the headlights, and played inside-Washington polite politics as usual.

Obama lied, dissimulated, went off subject — and derisively called them John, Bill, Joe, etc, while they bowed, scraped, and deferred to him as “Mr. President.” The whole scenario emerged as the ill-behaved and uninformed little children being lectured by the in-charge, all-knowing school principal.

Here are a few lines the Repubs might want to memorize before allowing themselves to be embarrassed again:

“That’s not correct, Mr. Obama.”

“We need to stay on subject, Barack.”

“Mr. Obama, you’re distorting the facts, and the American people deserve better than that.”

“In all honesty, Barack, it was not a matter of the American people being too scared or unintelligent to get your message. They got it loud and clear. And they rejected it out of hand. Now, let’s get down to the serious business of following their lead instead of yours.”

We simply cannot afford yet another replay of “Gentle Repubs, Meek and Mild.”

After all: “We won.”

Does Obama really thing Republicans will forget the last 2 years so quickly? The guy called us “enemies”, told us to “sit in the back,” told us he didn’t want to hear from us, tc. Now he wants to be friends? Oh, how things change. Don’t fall for it GOP. He will stab you in the back so quickly you won’t know what hit you!

FUBO!
