That is super cool.
I blew the images up to get a good look and can’t really interpret what I see. The bulbous ends are quite rough and the center section relatively smoother as if worn down by rotational abrasion.
Then there is the lit up end. I think the tail precedes the comet, but when I see it I can’t make any sense out of that.

It's not just the peanut shape that's unexpected, but this thing is rapidly tumbling end-over-end as it speeds along at around 27K mph...

Capt. Kirk can take a shuttlecraft, see, and adjust it’s propulsion system so that it will blow itself up just before Mr. Scott transports him back to the bridge of the Enterprise. Then he (Kirk) guides the shuttlecraft into the object’s larger end. Problem solved.
