Bachmann bid for GOP leadership gets cool reaction (Boehner about to pull a 'boner' ?)

WASHINGTON – Self-proclaimed tea party leader Michele Bachmann's bid for a top Republican post in the House received a cool reaction Thursday from Speaker-to-be John Boehner, an early test of how GOP leaders will treat the antiestablishment movement's winners in Tuesday's elections.

"Constitutional conservatives deserve a loud and clear voice in leadership!" Bachmann, R-Minn., who founded the Tea Party Caucus, said in a one-paragraph Facebook announcement that she is running for GOP conference chairman.

House Republican leaders don't disagree. But that doesn't mean they want the hyperbolic Bachmann being a spokeswoman for the new majority during the 2012 election cycle.

Boehner, aware of the role tea partiers played in making him the next House speaker, is endorsing no one. His lieutenants are lining up behind Rep. Jeb Hensarling of Texas, leaving no doubt that Hensarling — and not Bachmann — is the leadership favorite to chair the GOP conference.

"There are few who have done as much for the Republican team as Jeb," the expected House majority leader, Eric Cantor of Virginia, said in a statement.

I was annoyed yesterday when Boehner jumped up and just assumed that he was entitled to be the Republican congressional leader - with Cantor at his side. That’s the same kind of garbage that lead to the anger that was the catalyst for the formation of the tea party. Go Rep. Bachmann! Boehner needs to get out of the way or get run over. It’s a whole new game now and Boehner seems to be in denial about that.

Boehner is in the House of Representatives; Kelly Ayotte is in the Senate.

I suspect "Boehner's Boys" refers to Boenhers group of close associates in the House.

Jeb Hensarling is as solid of a conservative, as can be found in the House.

These good ol’ boys had better wake up and smell the TEA. What the hell does it take for them to figure out that they’re yesterday’s news?

Can Tea Party Express or a whole bunch of conservatives make it clear that we want Michelle Bachmann. Call your Representative and tell them you want Michelle Bachmann.

The Tea Party can say “we will primary every single Republican who votes against Michelle Bachmann”

This is the first test to see who the RINOs are.

A tea bag from every person that considers him/herself a member of the Tea Party.

They’re already f’ing up...

**************

But . . . deep down, in our heart of hearts, we knew that they would.

Just as we know that the GOP must eventually be abandoned, and left to die of irrelevance, or to merge with its hardier twin.

It is the less leftist liberal party, and the less massive big government party. The GOP’s principal virtue is that its vices are more timid than the Democrats.

Idiots. The House speaks for the people. It’s the Senate that’s supposed to be the “saucer that cools the boiling-hot tea cup”.

"There are few who have done as much for the Republican team as Jeb,"

I find it odd then, that I don't remember even hearing his name before.

Meant that as a question, not a statement.

If Conservatives are to survive they need to, in the next two years expand and build on the Tea Party and let the Republican Party be offically absorbed into the Democrat Party. The Republican Party hierarchy have unoffically joined with the Democaats, this will allow the marriage to be consumated.

Boehner has his head up his nether regions.

Michele Bachmann was being very modest hinting at a run for the #4 House leadership position, when there are so many people out among the populace that want her to run for the #1 House position, the Speaker of the House.

I hope there are enough new TEA party conservatives to out-vote these RINO backstabbers.

Boehner better think long and hard before shutting out Bachmann on this, the conservatives are not a flash in the pan.

I'd vote her into the Speaker role if I was you, John,

This isn't about who will be Speaker. It is about who will chair the GOP Conference. I am thankful a seasoned public servant like Boehner will be Speaker.
