Why not?

I was shooting around 8 or 9 and so has everyone in my family.

No one ever made a mistake and we all have strict rules for carrying and cleaning.

Walking - Safety on, gun down, hand on butt stock behind trigger guard.

Cleaning - all ammunition in another room, clear magazines and clear gun. Check and recheck.

No one ever got shot.... yet.

"...common sense legislation..."

Sorry, that dog don't hunt anymore.

There is nothing "common" between anti-gun and pro-gun, conservative vs. liberal, etc.

Pound sand you douchebags. Why don't you get your stinkin' panties in a wad about the 30k+ Americans killed per year by illegals?

You know what? FU Brady campaign! I'm going to the gun shop today to buy some more boxes of ammo. Our Scout Troop is having a shotgun shoot tomorrow, we have thousands of shells for the boys to blast through. WooHoo! In your face and stuff your "common sense" bull crap.

I wonder what universe Helmke lives in. He regurgitates the usual anti-gun phrases like
support common sense legislation that saves lives and helps keep us safe
that no one even in the Democrat controlled tyranny of the last two years could generate enough support to further restrict our rights. "Common sense" apparently being the code phrase for total and complete prohibition of ownership by anyone except police and, grudgingly, the military.

The only common-sense legislation I support regarding owning arms are the Second and Fifth Amendments. No other laws needed at the federal level. They’re unconstitutional anyway, but good luck telling that to elected Democrats in federal office.

wonder what universe Helmke lives in.

He's a former Indiana Mayor used to being well protected by his taxpayer-financed cop bodyguards.

I see. Kind of like the late and unlamented waste of skin, Mainturd Jackasson, former mayor of Atlanta and virulent anti-gun activist. His city budget had $490,000 annually for his personal protection detail. That’s nearly half a million bucks looted from the taxpayers of Atlanta to do nothing but pay the salaries of his personal lazy a$$ praetorion guard.

Pretty much. Aside from the deaths of unarmed victims during Helmke's term as mayor of Ft Wayne, see this.
