Truth and Science and Facts vs. Unwashed Hillbillies
The American Thinker ^ | November 05, 2010 | Randall Hoven

Posted on 11/05/2010 1:21:38 AM PDT by Scanian

We are hearing that either President Obama is either misunderstood or we are unwashed hillbillies who don't get it. Don't we know that he inherited this mess, the greatest recession since the Great Depression? Don't we know that the recession ended in June of 2009, just five months into his presidency? Don't we know that his stimulus was one third tax cuts and tax credits, and that he has not raised taxes? Don't we know that the number of private-sector jobs has increased in each of the last nine months?

President Obama explained us to us as follows:

"And so part of the reason that our politics seems so tough right now, and facts and science and argument does [sic] not seem to be winning the day all the time, is because we're hard-wired not to always think clearly when we're scared. And the country is scared, and they [sic] have good reason to be."

(Just my unwashed observation: We have a president who knows what our brains are hardwired to do and can describe the emotional state of an entire country, but he can't get subject and verb to agree and pronoun and antecedent to agree in just two sentences not read from a teleprompter. Good thing he didn't say "refudiate.")

Not missing the memo, Bloomberg took up on the president's insight.

A Bloomberg National Poll conducted Oct. 24-26 finds that by a two-to-one margin, likely voters in the Nov. 2 midterm elections think taxes have gone up, the economy has shrunk, and the billions lent to banks as part of the Troubled Asset Relief Program won't be recovered.

"'The public view of the economy is at odds with the facts, and the blame has to go to the Democrats,' said J. Ann Selzer, president of Selzer & Co., a Des Moines, Iowa-based firm that conducted the nationwide survey. ‘It does not matter much if you make change, if you do not communicate change.'"

There we go again: failure to communicate.

“and facts and science and argument does [sic] not seem to be winning the day all the time, is because we’re hard-wired not to always think clearly when we’re scared.”

Obama must be really really scared.

I sincerely hope The Usurper continues to take this tack in the future!
I support any and everything that will lead to The Usurper's demise.
The Usurper is an immature novice ideologue, placed into the highest office by corrupt bankers and Commies, each working for their own objectives, knowing they are committing treason for profit or political gain! JMHO

"There we go again: failure to communicate."

My favorite movie line of all tiem by Strother Martin to Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke. "What we have here is a failure to communicate".
Our fearless leader has many many problems and the failure to communicate is only a small part of his resume. Being dumber than dirt is big on his list. . . . .

The “public view of the economy” is derived from 320 million ground views of the economy. And the only “facts” this view could be at odds with are the “facts” concocted by the White House propaganda crew.

Pollster finds it amazing that the public not buying the facts as spun by Democrats. This pollster had an agenda to try to show the american public are just misinformed. Given the options of spin, the Americans probably choose the answer that best described the truth. All those statements had enough truth in them that it is not surprising that most people said they were true. Technically those things are 100 percent true, but so what. People are just sick of the Democrats trying to nuance everything to the point of stupidity.

When democrats convince themselves that the problem isn’t their message but that they didn’t communicate it well enough to the “unwashed hillbillies”, they wind up overreaching.

Out of frustration, I hope to see them get more strident and condescending towards Americans. Since subtle didn’t work, I expect them to become more obnoxious and patronizing. It will only help our chances in 2012.

'The public view of the economy is at odds with the facts, and the blame has to go to the Democrats,'

My federal taxes haven't gone up yet. However, I have less money in my pocket at the end of the month. That is likely what people are responding to. Local sales taxes and government "fees" have gone up in my area. Total cash flow to my pocket is off ~10% from before the crisis. I have taken a small pay cut so I am not even keeping up with inflation. Short term money market and CD's interest rates are also negative in inflation adjusted terms.

“Some men, you just can’t reach”, also rings true. No matter parentage, upbringing in a stew of Islam and Communist ideology, a cascade of race based free passes through Harvard Law to the White House, all of that can vanish in an epiphany of the truth. But, some men (and I use the word loosely), you just can’t reach.
