Obama's state department to Indian officials; Show us your papers

Mr. Obama's trip to India may not be the great diplomatic success that the administration was hoping for. Our friends in the world's most populous democracy are getting steamed over the state department's heavy handed tactics. High ranking officials from the state of Maharashtra were invited to an event at the Taj Mahal hotel with Mr. Obama, but were told that they would have to show their papers to get in. According to The Times of India:

Miffed by the US consulate demanding personal details like birth date, nationality and passport number, Maharashtra's top politicians and bureaucrats have decided to pay it back in the same currency. While the home minister and the home secretary have declined to attend an event graced by President Barack Obama, four others, including chief minister Ashok Chavan and deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal, are mulling the same.

"We are shocked over the tone of the invitation letter. (US consul general Paul) Folmsbee expects Chavan and Bhujbal to produce their identity cards before entering the venue. They have been asked to submit their details like date of birth, nationality, passport and PAN to the consulate," said a senior official on condition of anonymity. "We feel this is no way to treat the chief minister of a state. Chavan and Bhujbal are undecided on whether to attend the event."

blamed the unusual request on a “clerical error.”

Is it true that one of the planes will be loaded with Pampers for the messiah and his cohorts?

The planes will be loaded with Black Pampers...

Oh man....the things I would like to say.

Perhaps we could ask Obozo for the same before he is allowed to return.

Bambi’s Pasha Tour is going from weird to weirder every day.

First of all, what is he so scared of? This is truly bizarre.

All they have to do is place their BC online and tell the US consulate to go online. It may turn out they are all born in Hawaii ROFL

Obama is the one who should be showing his BC. He is, after all, entering THEIR country.

This seems so unneccessary considering that we should have a CIA and Secret Service that already knows everything about every person that would attend anything that our president is attending WITHOUT HAVING TO ASK THE PEOPLE ATTENDING. ??

This is either a deliberate slight or yet another example of incompetence in Obama’s administration. Our intelligence services shouldn’t have to ask the people they are investigating anything..they should gather the information themselves to make sure that no-one is hiding anything.

Bizarre...

*The hypocrisy is glaring as this is coming from a president with vitually no verifiable personal background.*

I believe that this will somehow result in a few less Democrats getting elected in 2012. Obama is happily sealing his fate as a one term failure and he doesn't even seem to be aware of it.

*Let me get this right, Obastard’s minions go to India and demand to see the Indian diplomats’ papers? Is this supposed to be a good will tour or another insult-our-allies excursion?*

I wonder if he made the leaders that he bowed to show him their papers?

He might have been bowing to the wrong guys!
;-)

Q: Why is obama going to India in the first place?

A: It’s an American ally he hasn’t pissed off yet.

I present you with exhibit A, demanding documents from another state’s leaders.

That kind of thing is routine, but what I am questioning is why doesn’t the CIA already have dossiers on all of these dignitaries attending this so called meeting in question already? You would think that they would, without having to ask the dignitaries for their paper work. Does that make sense? The article is not talking about a meeting with the general public. It is a meeting of well-known officials in the Indian government if I understood it correctly.

(My post was confusing and muddled..so bear with me(grin))

8/26/10 Soros’ Quantum hedge fund last week purchased Dubai Financial Group’s 4% stake in the Bombay Stock Exchange.......

Soros’ investment comes as India works to modernize its capital markets, opening new exchanges, streamlining trading and introducing new products, like currency futures. India’s stock markets are of increasing interest to foreign investors. Brokers own 44 percent of the BSE, with public shareholders controlling the rest.

Thirty percent of public shareholding is in the hands of foreign entities, including Deutsche Boerse, the Singapore Stock Exchange, Canadian financier Tom Caldwell, and US private equity group Argonaut Ventures. Indian law prohibits foreign investors from holding more than 5% in a local exchange.

The BSE had 4,990 listed companies as of July and a market capitalization of $1.4 trillion, according to its website.

Soros sold its entire Petrobras stake (Brazilian oil-—Soros got $2B from Ohaha)) to help finance the purchase of 4% stake in Bombay Stock Exchange. Buying and selling of non-US listed companies, including ADRs on US stock exchanges, is not required to be registered on the SEC forms.

I *know* Obama has a thing for Health Care, but isn't he a bit *old* to still be playing doctor?

"I'll show you mine if you show me yours."

Cheers!
