What About Medicare for a Federal Retiree?
FedSmith ^ | November 5, 2010 | Tammy Flanagan

This year's Federal Employees Health Benefits Program open season starts on Monday, and runs through Dec. 13. Many federal retirees and those planning for retirement ask me, "Why do I need Medicare if I already have health insurance under FEHBP?" The fact is, in many cases it makes sense to have both FEHBP and Medicare coverage. That might involve switching to a different FEHBP plan in retirement that better matches with Medicare and your health care needs. Let's take a closer look at how Medicare might fit into your planning.

I don’t imagine too many Freepers are anxious to admit to being Federal employees right now.....

One of the first pieces of legislation the New House should Pass is limiting perks and retirement of ALL FEDERAL employees.. Eliminating ANY increases and reviewing and recommending possible reductions of benefits..

ALL federal employees including elected ones.. and their staffs.. ALL OF THEM..
And HOPE and Pray they raise hell over this legislation..
THEN.. an investigation can be ordered to study FURTHER cuts and limitations and reductions..

It just could be Federal Unions are a threat to National Security.. i.e. SEIU

Wrong. Plenty of federal employees and retirees are also Freepers, and have no problem saying so.

Why not? One out of eight people work for the Federal government. There are a lot of maintenance people for national parks, federal buildings and regular working people. Just because elected crooks give us a bad name is no reason to deny the job I used to do.

I’m a Fed too...and have put up with name calling and other assorted BS from other freepers that think they have a clue.

It’s getting old.

We're ALL federal "workers".

The issue is one's relative position within the pyramid - closer to the top where the goodies are, or on the bottom being crushed by it.

Novus Ordo Seclorum my arse.
Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Ba'al
--The Who
Ba'al being a Hebrew word for Owner, Lord, Possessor, MASTER.

What happens when the pyramid is upside down?

"Oooops".

So, enjoy the garden while it lasts....

And you're welcome.  NOT.

All federal retirees need to be aware that over 80% the Fed LTC plan is overpriced compared to private plans. This is especially true for those who are married and in good health.

Should anyone have any questions, or would like assistance finding a good LTC specialist in their area, feel free to respond to me in private.

Thanks,

Proudpapa
