Right To Bear Arms Vote Sets A National Record(KS)

Bonner Springs, KS - The citizens of Kansas voted overwhelmingly on November 2nd to ensure that their Second Amendment rights are never questioned in Kansas.

Voters decided with 710,255 votes (89% of votes cast) that the Kansas Constitution should be changed to insure that every individual has the right to bear arms in Kansas. Only 91,004 persons (11% of votes cast) declared they did not want this change made.

It was a great victory and shows how important the people of Kansas believe this issue is. This was a record setting vote as no other gun rights initiative has passed with this overwhelming of a vote in the entire country.

The previous record was set in 1986 when West Virginia voters approved their Constitutional Amendment with an 83.6% approval.

Article 4 of the Kansas Constitution will now read, “A person has the right to keep and bear arms for the defense of self, family, home and state, for lawful hunting and recreational use, and for any other lawful purpose.”

The Kansas State Rifle Association worked with the NRA and Senator Mike Petersen and several other members of the Kansas legislature to pass a resolution to provide for this new language and get it placed on the ballot for this general election.

The Kansas State Rifle Association would like to thank everyone who assisted in educating the voters about this amendment. It was a huge effort to inform voters to make sure they understood what was being done and why it needed to be done. Volunteers spent countless hours passing out bumper stickers, fliers and yard signs and explaining the issue to citizens.

Our voices have been heard loud and clear and the Second Amendment prevails in the great State of Kansas!

"The notion that the Second Amendment is a power of the government, rather than a right of people, was invented in 1905. In the town of Salina, Kan., James Blaksley was convicted of carrying a pistol while intoxicated. When he appealed his conviction, neither Blaksley nor the prosecutor argued that the Second Amendment did not pertain to individuals, and the matter was therefore never briefed. The government attorney had simply argued that the local law was a reasonable gun control. Nevertheless, the Kansas Supreme Court chose to issue a decision announcing that the Second Amendment, and the right to arms in the Kansas state constitution, did not belong to citizens. (Salina v. Blaksley, 83 P. 619 [Kan. 1905].)"

Kansas citizens have finally reversed the evil deed done by the "Progressive" judges over 100 years ago.

I’m beginning to fall in love with my state again. Now, if we could just get all the RINOs out....

I’m glad to see this and hope other states follow this procedure if they haven’t already. Tennessee voted overwhelmingly to add the “Right to Hunt” to the TN Constitution this election. I don’t know why it was proposed since hunting has always been allowed in TN unless it was to secure the right before the Feds decide we can’t. I like seeing that states are becoming more proactive.

Does this mean carry — concealed or open — with no permit? That is Constitutional Carry.

Now we need to get the legislature to move to legalize concealed carry with no need for permits or registration rather than the shall issue concealed carry we have now and they need to codify our right to open carry statewide by prohibiting cities from banning the open carry of firearms.

If you are talking about the Kansas vote I’m not sure. I’m in TN. Our new governor in TN said he wouldn’t block getting rid of permits though. That would allow us to carry without a permit. Right now we have open carry but we have to have a permit. I think all states should add Constitutional Carry to their Constitutions. It shouldn’t even be an option to deny Constitutional Carry IMO.

If something is “allowed” it’s NOT a right.

Thanks for the ping. It will be interesting to see what effect, if any, it will have on carry laws. Over here, we can carry in our vehicles without a permit.

Congrats on turning Kansas into a bright red state; it shall hopefully become a free state again.

And there isn’t a single goa member who can explain just what the goa has ever done on their own.

In addressing the ‘GOA’ question, from what I’ve seen, the GOA is an organization that has been founded, on the heels of all the commercialization, ‘goodie contests’, ‘support us and we’ll send you a toaster’, and endorsements of rat bastard elected officials by the NRA.

I salute the State of Kansas in it’s righteous definition of the 2nd Amendment. This bill defends the issue of ‘state’s rights’, versus ‘federal/international gun laws’, as we have heard that might come forth from Washington, and the U.N., and this administration, in particular. With the passing of this referendum, it solidifies the freedom of the sovereign individual American.

With the militarization of every town, city, and metropolitan police bureau, it is most important that the American sovereign individual’s right be primary, not secondary to some fecund nightmare of an individual that has never been to these most sacred shores.

Douglas Co. KS, (KU), and Kansas City, KS (voter fraud) is where 90,000 of these votes came from.

Shooter-
Great point-GOA did nothing to help pass our Right to Keep and Bear Arms Constitutional Amendment in Kansas-it was 100 per cent NRA and the Kansas State Rifle Association.

The last time Larry Pratt and his sidekick Dennis Fusuro did anthing in Kansas was to send an alert opposing our Right to Carry bill-which we passed by overriding the democratic Gov’s Kathy Heathcare veto.

We now have over 30,000 permit holders-we had no Right to Carry before 2006.

GOA is MIA as always.
