Nancy Pelosi confident she'll be Democratic leader

By: Jonathan Allen November 6, 2010 06:50 PM EDT

In a letter sent to fellow Democratic lawmakers Saturday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California expresses confidence that she will be elected minority leader and calls for the party to “further modernize” and “communicate” the message that helped them win the House in 2006.

"In the 24 hours since I wrote seeking your views and your vote for Democratic Leader, I have been very gratified by the extensive and enthusiastic support I have received. Many of our colleagues, from all areas of our diverse Caucus, have been generous with their ideas and their support,” Pelosi wrote, according to a copy obtained by POLITICO. “I am grateful for the confidence that has been placed in me to be House Democratic Leader."

Pelosi says in the letter that her conversations have been focused on the policies that will assist American families. Her focus on message implies that Democrats lost at least 60 seats and the House because of a failure to communicate effectively about the agenda the party delivered rather than public disapproval of the policies. It’s an argument that may resonate well with House Democrats who blame the White House for not putting enough energy into honing and promoting public relations campaigns in support of major legislative items.

"In addition, we must build the capacity for effectively communicating our message of job creation and opportunity for all, while supporting our signature achievements of health care, Wall Street reform, and Social Security and Medicare," she wrote. "In the 2006 election with our ‘New Direction’ and ‘6 for 06’ message, we spoke with great clarity and unity — and we won.

Nancy was also confident they’d win on Tuesday.

If the Rats don’t switch to Steny Hoyer they have a death wish.

If I was a moderate Dem and faced the prospect of having to follow Nancy until 2012 I would explore aligning with the GOP They might have a career after 2012.

Considering Pelosi is about as popular as cancer in most of the country, this is great news.

Well, it was mostly “moderate” congressmen and blue dogs who got thrown under the bus by Nancy. Because they were only “moderate” because their districts were fairly conservative. The worst flaming liberals are from flaming liberal districts, where the voters will continue to love them—like San Fran Nan herself.

So, it’s possible that she will be re-elected leader if that’s what she wants.

Good. We want the same faces on TV ads for the unholy triumvirate.
When the war started going badly for the Germans in 1943 and 1944, the allies stopped their efforts to take out Hitler. They figured he was a liability to German war effort.

Obviously last Tuesday was too subtle for her pea brain and she needs a more direct form of rejection.
