He was good in the 80s and ok for most of the 90s. He's old and has become a product of the DC cocktail circuit and needs to go. In his defense, I can't think of any Republican who has been there for that long who didn't become a RINO by the end. Barry Goldwater, for example, was getting more liberal by the minute at the end of his career.
If Utah still has that party caucus system of picking the nominee in 2012, I would imagine that Hatch will be gone. He ought to retire and go honorably instead of being forced out.
