R.I.P.: Al Gore’s Chicago Climate Exchange Has Died
National Review Online ^ | 11-7-10 | Greg Pollowitz

Global warming-inspired cap and trade has been one of the most stridently debated public policy controversies of the past 15 years. But it is dying a quiet death. In a little reported move, the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) announced on Oct. 21 that it will be ending carbon trading – the only purpose for which it was founded – this year.

Although the trading in carbon emissions credits was voluntary, the CCX was intended to be the hub of the mandatory carbon trading established by a cap-and-trade law, like the Waxman-Markey scheme passed by the House in June 2009.

Maybe a “Global Cooling” exchange might work instead.

After waking up this morning to temperatures in the 40’s in South Florida, global cooling seems more likely.

It is good to see the markets work. The natural laws of supply and demand aren’t of the sort that can be repealed or rewritten in the legislatures of this or any other country. The sooner this lesson is learned by all the better off we all shall be.

Will he have to return his unearned Nobel prize?

Does this mean he won't be releasing his "inner chakras", anymore?

It's all good, then.

The sooner this lesson is learned by all the better off we all shall be.

But, there will always be a flimflam, shyster who will come along and try to make a buck off the public by fear mongering. What a waste of space. Aren't he and his wife separated now? I know the question is not on subject but it just hit me to ask.

In early July, the parent company of CCX was bought by Atlanta-based IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) for US$622 million (4.2 billion yuan). According to Reuters, the new owner started cutting staff at the CCX within weeks of the purchase. CCX spokesperson Brookly McLaughlin said in August that ICE was closely monitoring the progress of carbon policy in the United States and evaluating whether to continue CCX operations “that would establish a reduction and trading programme extending beyond 2010”.

IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) was established in May 2000, with founding shareholders representing some of the world’s largest energy companies and global banks.

Yes.

Both Tipper and him suffer from depression, but hers I heard is extreme and they’ve kept her out of most public apperances for many years now.

Meanwhile, Al’s been persuing his climate scam and getting happy ending massages on the side. Believe he also had an affair with Laurie David, the ex-wife of Larry David, who was one of the main writers for Seinfeld and lead on Curb your Euthusiam. She’s a real piece of garbage and also was one of Al’s biggest worshippers. She got her husband to bankroll Al’s movie, Inconvinent Truth and then cheated on him with some boytoy. Then hooked up with Al too.
