Young rappers arrested in Iran
November 07, 2010|By Reza Sayah, CNN
Police in Tehran have arrested several members of underground Iranian rap groups, the semi-offical ILNA news agency reported.
Tehran Police Chief Hussain Sajedinia told ILNA that several young boys and girls were discovered using vacant homes to record and videotape illegal rap music for various websites and satellite networks.
Police raided the homes, arrested the young musicians and confiscated "western style musical instruments" and several bottles of liquor, according to ILNA.

Iran Police Target Rappers in Arrest Sweep

Law enforcement in Iran is up to some not so tolerant things. Over the weekend, CNN reported that the Tehran police force performed a sweep to arrest several members of underground Iranian rap groups for using vacant homes to record and videotape their songs, which are apparently illegal in the country.
"These groups use the most trashy, juvenile and street-like words and phrases that have no place in proper grammar," a local police chief, Hussain Sajedinia, said to the country's ILNA news organization. "More importantly, they have no regard for the law, principles, proper behavior and language."
In Iran, musicians participating in both rap and rock n' roll music are not necessarily committing serious crimes that come with prison sentences, but authorities find the music "un-Islamic." When one is found to be a rapper, it often comes with accusations of Satan worship and can be grounds for a night in jail.

So they don’t like wiggers in Iran either...
and our silly rappers think they have something to moan and groan about.
As a firm supporter of human rights, I deplore this oppression of free speech.
On the other hand, as someone who appreciates music, I applaud the suppression of this c-rap.
instead of Fifty Cent they have 100 Dinar.
Suddenly, I have a whole new appreciation of Amadinejad.
I’m reminded of one of my favorite lines from “Are You Being Served?” Captain Peacock is intent upon firing one of the younger workers until his supervisor says that if that should happen his own job would be at risk. To which Captain Peacock replies, “Oh, well, I see a lot of good in the lad.”
Suddenly I look at Amadinejad and, “I see a lot of good in the lad.”
And if the Iranian rappers entitled an album “It takes a Nation of Millions to Hold us Back!” they would actually be correct and not a bunch of melodramatic posers!
Let's send them all of ours.
I'm willing to make that sacrifice!
Here’s another vote for your side.
I guess they aren’t all bad after all.
“Throw ya hands in the air, and catch ‘em like ya just don’t care...”
And we thought the regime there was all bad !!
Wow. Imadinnerjacket gets one right. Good for him!
Poor dears. Their “human rights” are being violated.
