I once met and talked with a woman from NY. She was passing through our area and stayed in one of our little towns. We live out in the middle of nowhere.

This woman talked to me about how she could never live in such isolated areas, and that she loved the city because people are “cultured” there.

In other words, the assumption is that we country folks aren’t “cultured”. I found this to me mildly amusing because my family has been in the entertainment industry for most of our adult lives. Our children are well read for such young “country folk”, and they all study music, have performed in plays, recitals, and in choirs, and have been exposed to what this woman would describe as “culture”.

We are not alone in this “country folks” community either.

About 30 years ago, I was having a conversation with a group of Parisians, while we were vacationing in Martinique. They denied that they hate Americans, just New Yorkers, whom they viewed as being UN-cultured and pushy and rude.

Other Americans, such as Pennsylvanians, they viewed as being polite and cultured. (I’m a Pennsylvanian.:)

This may come as a shock to New Yorkers, who think themselves so cultured and cosmopolitan, that even the French don’t like them.

Be _glad_ that she feels the way she does, and that there are millions more of the liberal and left who feel exactly that way.

No matter how bad things get where they are, they so loathe “rurality” that they would never consider leaving the pits they’re in for such places.

What she doesn’t comprehend is that she’s living in the largest target in the world — the bull’s-eye of Islam. Even after the World Trade Center attacks, she (and most other NYC’ers) can’t see this.

Someday, that target is going to be hit by a _real_ “arrow”.

We’ve seen only the preview....
