NEW DELHI (AP) ― An Indian lawmaker from Punjab said Tuesday she had asked President Barack Obama to put a stop to the U.S. border practice of frisking Sikh turbans.
Sikhs worldwide have long protested the American security measure as discriminatory and unnecessary in a world with machines for body scanning and metal detection.
New U.S. guidelines put into effect two weeks ago no longer require air passengers to remove turbans if doing so makes them uncomfortable, the U.S. Transport Security Administration said.

AS if a Muslim terrorist is incapable of donning a Sikh turban for the mission. It’s not like he has to wear it for very long.

You took the words right out of my mouth. As it stands now, (according to the article) they don’t have to remove turbins if they “feel” “uncomfortable,” now Obama will use this bullcrap political correctness garbage to ease the way for terrorists. Then underwear and sneakers won’t have to be used.
NEXT...they will ask Holder and Obama to let all muslims skip security in airports and they will tell them ok.

The guys point was that with metal detectors, bomb sniffers, and body scanners - the business of mucking about with turbans is unnecessary. (Unless they opt out and require a pat down, at which point I say, “search the turban”).
Some of it may well also be the result of the ALL too common “Turban = Muslim” mistake. Not that I think the TSA is keen enough on the idea of a reasonable assessment of risk, but once they “randomly” screen a guy with a turban - I imagine an overly enthused TSA screener may well think “We might have a live one here!” and go the extra mile on a guy who hates Islamic terror as much or more than any American.

I’ve seen business men asked to take off their jackets,belts,ties,vests. Women asked to remove sweaters,coats,vests, hair adornments, hair extensions. Babies and diaper bags gone through like criminals. Even nuns given a harder time.And robes and turbins just lightly sweeped with a wand-maybe.
BOTTOM LINE Political Correctness has gone too far.
With the new nekid scanner (which I have been asked to do; it was pre marked on my boarding ticket.) these things may change but they better change for everybody and not just turbins and robes and what not.
