Well, there was that one case of the EgyptAir Flight 990 back in 1999.

I fly about 15 times a year minimum, some years much more and I have had only one experience that was irritating. I have been patted down and it was benign. Once when I was wearing a hat being bald on account of chemo, a surly agent made me take it off and put it thru the scanner. Nobody ever asked me to do that on other flights, I usually just tipped it. But she was mean and forced me and I started crying and shaking it was so disturbing. In a minute, three agents were there, very kind, helped get my stuff together as I couldn’t and offered to take me to the gate. They apologised.
I thank the agents and tell them I appreciate what they do. I don’t have patience for those who are so paranoid about people who are trying to keep planes from coming down.
ANd the airlines have nothing to do with this. It is the feds.
that’s what my eyes said and i figured that i could understand that.
I quit flying 1-1/2 years ago. I even drove cross-country, from sea to shining sea, in my car to avoid those TSA yokels.
I had my last flight in 2005 when I saw a TSA agent at the airport in Chicago leave a secure area to buy a candy bar then "wand' himself to get back in as though he might find a box cutter or gun on himself. Nutty. I'll drive thank you, it's a great way to see the U.S.A.
We took a trip from Texas to Colorado, round trip, and drove to avoid this fiasco.
“Twisted her breast’” - gotta make sure they are real, not C-4, don’t you know?
Ask the nice TSAPerson, if you have any doubts. You can understand the grunts those things make if you try hard.
This is just beyond the pale. I draw the line at doses of rads and hands on groping. It is un-necessary and just plain stupid. I am not willing to subject myself to that kind of abuse. Hence, either I drive, take a bus, train, or I don’t go.
Criminal profiling is there for a reason. For crying out loud, use it. This is all just so a frakking muslim won’t be offended. Screw that.
I'd thought of that. But it'd take me two days, 15 hours to go to a place I could drive to in 1 day, 13 hours.
It would save the $100 additional in gasoline I'd spend over and above the fare, though.
What is needed is a “airline passenger’s union.” All together, now. For the next two weeks there will be no flying commercial. The gubmint and the airlines will be ready to talk before the two weeks is up.
Step two is hire all the Israeli security people you can and use them for training the next (no current tsa employees need apply) crop of airport security.
Having a half tube of toothpaste confiscated was enough to get me out of the system ... now we learn that not only can’t I take my favorite printer cartridges onboard with me, I will have to submit to pornographic treatment. Nope!! It just goes down hill, and there is no bottom in sight.
I don’t. I haven’t flown since this crap became SOP. Should the need for me to fly arise, I’ll charter a private plane... or I will just drive.
BTW, I can still hump a 40 lb pack cross country and am still fit to regulations.

Not buying it this time. Reeks of a set-up. They went to the airport to find an outrage, and made sure they got one.
I googled the story, and not one site told who this gal is. No pics on any of them either.
Why, you want them to think you’re an ex-president?
Only people of the same sex can molest you - that’s supposed to be reassuring?? Are you out of your mind?
They need to profile Muslims and people coming from Muslim countries! That’s it! No one else ever blows up planes!
You’re a good little ant, aren’t you - I suppose you like the rule “Anything Not Prohibited Is Mandatory”!
Let's see if I can fill in the knee-jerk FReeper response to what you said. How about:
You hate America first! You want the terrorists to win! You don't understand we have to follow the rules so they can make us safe! I'm afraid of bad people and I believe what they tell me. If you get rid of TSA, the terrorists win. I'm so afraid!
Calling all Freepers for some badly needed advice!
My beloeved husband and I have to fly from Buffalo to Minneapolis next Tuesday, and we need your help. We picked a non-stop flight because of the below.
He has Parkinson’s, so moves like Tim Conway. We have asked for a wheelchair at both ends. He also has a partial hip replacement, which is why we are asking for advice.
Are we better off going through the x-ray machine thingie, or “opting out” for the free feelies?
Inquiring minds want to make the best/safest choice. Do wheelchair folks get better treatment? Should I skip the bra and panties? What else should we worry about.
We haven’t flown since all the crappies came down on flyers. We are old enough to remember how flying used to be, and decided not to fly after the new rules, but this trip is totally unavoidable.
We are moving to be near our son and family, to a new-fangled “old-folks” home, and driving across country would be too hard on my husband. So we must fly.
Any advice from you frequent flyers as to how best navigate the boarding process is so much appreciated! We are trying to time his Parkinson’s meds so we won’t have to explain a boatload of prescription drugs to the TSA gang.
