We will just coddle this guy for the next 50 years with free room and board.
You're not far from the truth! There are men on Death Row in California who were sentenced way back in 1979, and are no closer to their executions today than they were 31 years ago.
The notorious serial killer Richard Ramirez, aka the "Night Stalker", who savagely murdered at least 14 people back in 1984, was sentenced to death in 1989 and is only halfway (at best) through the appeals process. It will be at least another 25 years before an execution date is set for him.
Total judicial insanity!

Un-freakin’-believable that the Night Stalker still breathes and walks this planet. Yes, something is EXTREMELY, COMPLETELY wrong with the “process” that he is not long gone. I remember how terrifying it was every day and night until he was caught. I believe he was apprehended and turned in by private citizens. Too bad they didn’t TCB before contacting the “authorities.”
