Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann dropped out of the race for House Republican Conference chair on Wednesday night, ensuring that the GOP’s leadership elections will go on without any serious competition.

In a statement sent to a handful of reporters Wednesday evening, the tea party favorite said that Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling has her “enthusiastic support for his candidacy” for the top messaging post in the GOP.

“This is good news. My biggest fear is Michele being the right’s Pelosi. Being in the leadership position also weighs her down with the establishment accusation, so it’s better that she remains where she is.”
__________________________________________________________

I think you are absolutely correct. Given the double standards with the left and MSM (same difference), she would be treated AWFUL compared to Pelosi. During this mid-term campaign, it was clear to any objective person that it was OK to call a woman candidate a WH@RE, SL&T, and B!TCH provided that she was right of center.

Bachmann is more effective and dangerous being free from the leadership. Still, it would be fun seeing the video bytes between Bachmann and Pelosi. Shown right after one another; what a CONTRAST!!!!

Read my tag line. I'm sick of the knee jerk reaction that the GOP is out to screw the tea party. I'm sick of conservatives believing all the crap that comes out of the MSM with anonymous sources. Obviously the MSM is doing all they can to divide the GOP and start a war between the "establishment" and tea party. Heck on many blogs and here Jeb Henserling was referred to as "establishment" and Michele Bachmann "tea party". Even though Henserling has one of the most conservative voting records in congress. Even though Michele Bachmann said he was a mentor to her when she came into congress. The MSM is trying to get conservatives to fight with each other andn it seems all too often we give them what they want. Obama is the enemy, not Jeb Henserling, Eric Cantor or John Boehner.

Michele Bachmann will still be front and center with her Tea party credentials and she knows exactly what she is doing. Her influence is not diminished at all.

Yeah if you’re not Michele Bachmann or Sarah Palin you’re “establishment” or “RINO”. I guess the exception would be Marco Rubio. But no doubt he’ll say something that isn’t 100% pure and he’ll be called a RINO too.

It does appear that there are a lot of fickle people on FreeRepublic doesn’t it?

If, by Michele running for the leadership, then Jeb Hensarling is considered “the establishment”, maybe it was a good rope-a-dope strategery to ensure a conservative in that position. If the choice is between Jeb and Michele, I think that is a very good thing.

Boo-HOo, we are being attacked by the establishment, they are hammering daily at Governor Palin, and now DeMint, and the tea party.

Conservatives are in a battle with the anti-Reagan wing of the GOP.

No, this is not bad.

Hensarling is a solid conservative, one of the truly good guys. Bachmann isn’t selling out. He’s worked for his term, he’s on our side, and there are other battles to fight. We don’t need one over leadership.

“I can’t imagine that anybody got to her.

Wonder why she dropped out?”

A. She didn’t believe she would win

B. For the good of the party.

Just remember, as soon as the Pub leadership is chosen, withion weeks every one of them will have ethics charges lodged against them. The Dems have stated time and time again it is in their favor to be able to say all the GOP leadership are criminal, corrupt and under investigations, no matter he validity of charges.

I totally agree with you.

If she was in leadership, the left would vilify her (even more) and use her in their fundraising efforts.

Well, dang. I just called her office today to offer support and see what could be done to help with this leadership role. Her office gave absolutely no indication and, in fact, suggested I call my own and other GOP reps to request support for Michele.

I pray this has nothing to do with her hospitalization before the election.

I never said anything about Michelle selling out, I hope that she can make the Scozzafava endorsing Hensarling, man up, he is weak.

Hensarling, failed the first big tea party fight when he took the side that the establishment told him to, to support the hard left, Scozzafava.

That’s very disappointing. I think she is certainly a viable
candidate for some kind of leadership roll...and there are
a lot to go around. She is so passionately conservative...we
DO need her to counter the not-so-conservatives that will be
put forth.

I’m sure Hensarling is a good man...but to tell you the truth
...as a Texan...I have totally never heard of him until last
week! LOLl!

I love Bachmann, but Hensarling is terrific on TV! He;s got a great grasp of finances.

Yeah he voted for Medicare Part D along with 206 other Republicans. I suppose those 206 other Republicans, including folks like Paul Ryan, Tom DeLay, Dunca Hunter, Marsha Blackburn etc. also chose party over principles?
