Television review: 'Sarah Palin's Alaska' (Hit-piece on Sarah, of course)

Sarah Palin is the ultimate "American Idol" politician. Plucked from relative obscurity by the McCain campaign, quickly costumed, coached and handed a set list created to play to her strengths, she leapfrogged over the traditional trajectory of a political career directly onto center stage where some viewers/voters loved her and many others didn't.

So although it is unprecedented, it is not surprising that, in the aftermath of her unsuccessful vice presidential bid, Palin would quit her actual political job — governor of Alaska — to pursue a career in television, first as a commentator for Fox News and now as the star of TLC's new reality series "Sarah Palin's Alaska."

A show that is, in a phrase, breathtaking, though not so much in form as function. Certainly the Palins are a great-looking family and Alaska is a great-looking state, but it's not the image of a bear raising itself to full angry height or the grandeur of Mt. McKinley or Willow Palin's boyfriend sneaking up to her bedroom that causes the viewer's jaw to, and not occasionally, drop. It's the fabulous shamelessness, the awful and yet admirable brilliance of the thing. Whether Palin will ever run for office or not, "Sarah Palin's Alaska" sets a new standard for political ads.

Oh, lib women — give it UP. You’ve already hit on Sarah Palin over and over about every point. It’s just getting old. You’ve dissed her kids, her husband, her family, her looks, her voice, her background, her education all a million times — we’ve heard it all and honestly, there’s just not much more you can really harp about anymore. It’s all been COVERED. I mean, stop and look at Palin — she’s still standing, and doing WELL. You, on the other hand, are still whining, still sneering, still grousing.

So, I think it’s time now to scrutinize yourselves and the fact that you as a group cannot come up with any other alternative ideas for women other than to kill their kids or leave their husbands when the going gets rough. And I honestly cannot think of anything weaker than that.

The public will eventually realize all the things you say.

I can’t believe the LA Times gave a bad review to Sarah Palin’s Alaska...Just can’t believe it!

Considering it’s the LA Times, it’s not a bad review. The writer’s snarkiness reflects more on him than it does on the show.

Sarah Palin is the ultimate “American Idol” politician. Plucked from relative obscurity...

A mayor/city manager runs for Lt. Gov.and loses, then unseats a sitting governor of her own party. Not content with that, she takes on big oil and puts them in their place, resetting how much they have to pay Alaskans for their resources. She puts together a pipeline project (the largest in history) that has been talked about for decades but no one had been able to get passed. She gets it passed. She balances budgets and cuts spending. To this writer, that’s obscurity.

So the ruling class definition of obscurity is accomplishing great things but doing it outside of NY, DC,LA or SF.

The writer is on Facebook. One of her 'likes'? Gay marriage! Of course Sarah Palin will get a fair crack of the whip from this zealot, right?

“What a lovely family. I can’t wait for them to take the same pic on the White House lawn.”

I can’t wait to have a real American family in the WhiteHouse.

LOL about the Palins being “so white” when Todd has Eskimo in him. I love how they inject the race issue being typical racist, hateful lefties.
