Yeah, well, O’Hare is an example of the city reaching out beyond its “natural” boundaries to grab a valuable piece of real estate.
Everyone I know measures from the Loop. Seems reasonable enough.
In any case, we agree, it’s suburban, not Chicago.
Why weren’t the kids who objected to the “Straight Pride” T-shirts told to be “tolerant” and to “celebrate diversity”?
Perfect but they probably ask to wear a sweatshirt over that too. We must take all of this PC and flush it!
There’s a story within a story here. No doubt the district ordered the principal to hold this event, but when he asked the students to even magic marker, and thus ruin, their t-shirts, they did, with minimal protest.
This says to me that both that principal is effective, not coercive, *and* that the students have some degree of respect for him. It shows good judgment on their part not to be confrontational, getting them all in worse trouble, but that implies that they were treated with respect by the principal.
Think about how this compares to the all too common public school story about angry students, facing off with a domineering administrator, threats, upset, lawsuits, suspension and expulsion, etc. In this case, this *didn’t* happen. And it was all likely because of the principal.
When we said “Free Speech”, we didn’t mean for you.
Now pay your taxes, we need raises. :)

The only problem with measuring from the Loop is that there are parts of Chicago that are fifteen miles from Chicago.
State ‘n’ Madison is zero for Chicago. St.C North is about 38 miles west of there.
I want one with “Hot, Straight, and Normal” on it.
It’s just submarine lingo!
How about a “Not a disease-ridden whackjob...Pride” tee shirt?
Yeah. So what? Measuring from O’Hare helps how? O’Hare is surounded by non-Chicago, with a tiny causeway. Measuring from O’Hare is like measuring from Park Ridge.
