School Responds: Boy Forced to Remove Flag for His Own ‘Safety,’ Can Fly it Again

School officials in Denair, CA have responded to the controversy surrounding a boy forced to remove an American flag from his bike on school grounds due to “racial tensions.” The school’s superintendent is now saying that the boy was told to remove the flag out of concerns for his safety, and that the school will allow him to resume his flag flying

From KTXL in Sacramento:

Ed Parraz, the Superintendent of the Denair School District told us a school supervisor asked Cody to take down the flag. The supervisor will not be fired or face repercussions. Parraz says the supervisor had information that Cody’s safety was at risk because of the flag. Some students had complained about it and had apparently made threats.

Parraz says they have decided to focus on those students who are causing the problem, not the flag. Cody is now allowed to ride onto school campus with Old Glory on the back. Parraz is aware of the outcry across the nation over this story. He says they embrace the American flag, they are patriotic, but that their main priority is keeping students safe.

Outrage over the initial story was immediate. Both Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh took time on their national radio shows to address it, while a woman from Texas pledged to send 1 million flags to the California school:

It’s indicative of something terribly wrong with this country when flying our own nation’s flag can be an issue of “safety”.

That says it all.

Secure our border. Illegals deported. No more sanctuary city crap. And no more coddling on the language, learn English, interact in public society in English or fail

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

We know where the Mexican kids are being taught that America is bad, and it's from their parents at home..

I doubt that, actually.

It's much more likely they are being indoctrinated against America in the government schools.

Who are these “students” who, in America, threatened an American student for displaying an American flag? These menacing, ungrateful foreigners need to be removed, first from the school, then from our country. One more reason why the Border needs to be sealed and our immigration laws enforced.

Any "student" who threatens violence against another for displaying an American flag should be expelled—permanently. If there any circumstances where "zero tolerance" is justified, this is certainly one of them.

It was the Mexican/Hispanic kids that declared the American flag offended them.”

Hire a bus & send them back south....with their parents.

Do ya now?

Then tell me why during an Olympics in Mexico City, the US team was mocked, spat on and disrespected during national anthem, as the Mexicans chanted of "Osama" during the match...

Just a guess but I'd bet the Mexicans in Mexico City didn't learn that from U.S. public schools.

Your screen name says it all!
If these students do not want to see the American flag there is a very easy remedy for their parents: Take them back to where the American flag is not on display. Easy remedy. End of problem.

Do ya now?

Yes, I do.

Are there some radicals who might do this? Sure. But to over-generalize, and assume all Americans of Mexican descent think this way is just wrong.

As someone else pointed out, the boy proudly displaying the flag is himself of Mexican (or at least Hispanic) descent.

Actually, let me correct that. Alicea is probably Portuguese, now that I think about it.

Nevertheless, I wouldn’t generalize too much. Remember the boys in Morgan Hill that wore patriotic T-shirts and got in trouble with their school? They were Hispanic.

So, let me get this straight: your position is that because Mexicans in Mexico behaved in a reprehensible way, all Americans of Mexican descent share that view of America?

I just think you are discounting the indoctrination that goes on in government schools.

My guess is there is more anti-American radicalism among government school employees than among your average Mexican-American parents.

That’s my only point.
