WASHINGTON - The D.C. area makes plenty of Top 10 lists, and this one shows its residents make the big bucks. According to a new report from Newsweek, seven of the nation's 10 richest counties are in this region.

Is Prince George’s County on the list? I frequently hear that Prince George’s is the wealthiest majority black jurisdiction in the country. Yet, many areas of that county have gone “ghetto” and are not places you would want to live.
After the guv shut down and the leaches have to find a job I suspect the DC area will be quite different.
All those lists always have the three counties surrounding DC, why? Well, at the SOG is where you find all those federal bureaucrats who make 150K per year. They treat those in the outlands who work for the G like red headed step children. The farther out in concentric circles you go from that hole, DC, the lower the pay gets from my experience. The best thing for the country would be if the place were shut down.

Wow. Not only nothing west of the Mississippi, nothing west of the Appalachias either!
There are two kinds of blacks in Prince George’s County. Those who are refugee’s from SouthEast Washington DC who brought their criminal relatives with them and those with High paying Affirmative Action Government jobs.
I might add the County Council Chairmans wife was just arrested with $80,000 dollars hidden in her underwear and a bribe check for $100,000. The dumb a-hole called and told her to stick it in her bra.
I'll bet she had to go the underwear route. The freezer was probably already full of cash.
There is really something wrong when the richest counties are next to our center of government and not our centers of business.

If she had a butt like the First Ladies, it would have been easy enough to conceal a paltry $80,000 in her thong.
And if you check the voting records I’m sure that 8 or 9 out of the top 10 and 17 or 18 out of the top 20 vote Democrat.
“Income” and “Wealth” are not the same thing. It’s typical for journalism to choose an easy statistic and pretend it represents a much larger concept.
Same thing was true in the Roman Empire. The wealthiest lived near Rome, the rest lived in the provinces, and were considered ‘provincial’. Same thing now.
That says it all right there.
Actually, it kind of makes sense. They're measuring "wealth" based on personal income. These counties are either very rural (like Louden County VA that enjoy some wealthy horse farm owners), or they are heavily populated with white collar jobs. There really isn't much in the way of industry in either southern Maryland or Northern Virginia, so there aren't many laborers beyond the labor that cleans hotels, offices or that work in kitchens. Yes, personal income is high per capita, but tt wouldn't surprise me to see many of these counties rank as the most educated (per capita), as well.
Also, I would be interested to see the list of richest zip codes. I'd wager that none of these NoVA or southern Maryland counties actually have the richest zip codes. There aren't a lot of mega-wealthy people in these counties - not like you'd find in the Palm Beach, Beverly Hills or Greenwich, CT area. But, there are a lot of well-educated professionals working in professional fields.
Yep. Free enterprise and true capitalism are long gone in America.
