President Obama is getting defensive about his attempts to play offense for the U.S. economy.
The President, who is winding up a tour of Asia this weekend, told an economic conference in Yokohama, Japan Saturday that his mission is to bring jobs to America.
"For America, this is a job strategy," Obama told the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference. The President added that he makes "no apologies" for trying to pump up employment in the U.S.
The unemployment rate in the U.S. is currently 9.6%.
In his speech, Obama promoted the idea that economic competition between the U.S. and Asian countries would be a "win-win for all of our nations."
"We are invested in your success because it's connected to our own. We have a stake in your future because our destiny is shared," Obama said.
He claims that every $1 billion dollars in exported goods helps support 5,000 U.S. jobs, The Associated Press reported.
The President is desperate for good economic news.

From what I’ve read he means a couple of white collar jobs here for some lawyers and corporate stuff and about a couple of hundred in India.
Great job, Barry.
WOW - what a load of road apples - whew
USA Companies have set up shop in Europe and Asia and all over the world. GM does just fine in China and I believe Buick is the best seller.
Import and export has been unbalanced for years and it's not going to change.
Or in the words of the immortal Billy Preston, “Nuthin’ from nuthin’ leaves nuthin’.”
A malignant narcissist hates being put on the defensive. Look for Obama to be in a nasty, vengeful mood when he gets home.
Incidentally, there is some footage of Obama watching a Japanese Kabuki Theater. He is chewing gum like his life depends on it. I bet it’s nicorette.
Barack Obama, President Of The World, went to India to visit our jobs.
Then he went to China to visit our money.
Jobs in AMERICA?? this “Fraud” is delusional. He took the CEO of GE,Jeffery Immelt with him. Set GE up good overseas. I hope every American stops buying GE products.
Go to the website ObamaReleaseYourRecords.com read the case filing posted-it makes all the sense in the world. He needs to be arrested.
He created a lot of jobs for Republican politicians, lets hear him brag about that!
The $2 Billion he spent on this trip would have been better spent sending out $1 million dollar checks to 2000 families.
The Wookie did better...
The Democrats are in bed with GE or is GE in bed with the Democrats. This is why the new light bulb agenda passed. We will see that GE gets millions in sales with their new light bulbs and we will donate to the Dems.
Was there a quote that referred to the health of the US economy being dependant on the health of the Three Generals:
It was “As GM goes, so goes the Nation.” Spoken by the chairman of GM back in the Eisenhower administration, I believe.
Thx - I think that was it.
“President Obama defends his trip to Asia, saying he is overseas to create jobs in America”
Unfortunately, he tends to kill jobs when he’s in America.
Note, he says “helps support 5,000 U.S. jobs”, not CREATE U.S. jobs.
It would also have gone a long way toward securing our borders or beefing up our army - you know, the things government is SUPPOSED to do.
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Yea, right....bringing us jobs. (sarc) That’s why Harley Davidson is building a motorcycle bike plant in India. The theory being that the U.S. will make the parts and have the parts sent over there.
How long will it take for them to figure out that they can make the parts cheaper than us and then those U.S. jobs will also be gone.
