Senator Mitch McConnell is a weasel. He’s cut from the same cloth as McPain, et. al. He’s posturing and trying to figure out how to do earmarks without having them identified as such. Bribery in politics is as natural to the Donkeys and Pubbies as breathing.

I’m trying to not be cynical and take Sen. McConnell at his word, but it’ll take some time to be sure he means it.

He made a good speech.

I agree. It's not easy to take back last week's remarks without looking like a weasely idiot, but I think he pulled it off. If he walks the walk, I'm willing to forgive him.

“Senator Mitch McConnell is a weasel. He’s cut from the same cloth as McPain...”

True he is now like McCain, who has long opposed earmarks, unlike recent earmark abuser Hayworth, who got clobbered v. McCain in conservative AZ.

He’s a RINO. I want to see him actually sign something instead of talking about it.

I agree, and as I said, it’s meaningless if Mitch doesn’t follow through. But let’s at least give him credit for acknowledging what the public is demanding. Compare to the Democrats who just keep saying over and over “our message is not getting out.” The established Republicans are going to struggle with these changes that reduce their clout, but the reality is if they don’t come around, they’re out. I see enough signs they understand this to be encouraged.
