I'm not sure why Memphis has a worst case rating(?) I checked the violent-crimes-per-thousand-citizens of Memphis against my own home city of Tampa, and Memphis is rated at about 15, while Tampa is 18.

And, even with those numbers here in Tampa I still don't get any sense of being under siege.

I think a person traveling should be very careful where ever they visit these days, however.

I’m sure there will be plenty of CCW holders to make this one of the safest places in town.

While I was born (1944) and raised in Memphis, I have not been in the USSA since Jan. 2005.
That being said, Memphis WAS a fine city, rated as quietest and cleanest in the country. My father was a Main Street merchant.
Memphis HAD a very fine utility district, light, gas, and water, under one roof.
In the last ten years, however, Memphis went from 40/60 black/ white, to 60/40.
It has been a disaster, and Memphis is now number one in murders, alone. I could go on, but it is too sickening to think about.
Most of the whites have fled to the county, or the outlying
towns.
I can say that for Memphis, it is all GONE WITH THE WIND.
