I’m also appalled at how whenever there’s a “crisis” that needs solving, only solutions that are some combination of intrusive, debasing or generally corrosive to our freedoms are considered. If it was me, I’d first look at ways to solve a problem that involve INCREASED freedom for the good guys (those of us with jobs that produce, rather than consume, wealth).

the problem is that since the government is involved, those among us wearing burkas will scream violation of their first amendment rights and discrimination if the "secure airlines" requires the scanner before boarding

if the government is not involved in the secure airlines there wouldn't be a first amendment claim since no state involvement, however those same people will scream discrimination based on religion and ethnicity and kill the idea

my thought is that we just freaking profile...or have the government provide a "Muslim Air" system that is paid for by a "muslim tax" with no screening but no Muslims on the private airlines...

What they need to do is establish a two-track system. Let those who are too squeamish to submit to a search board the Terrorist Target Airline, and the rest of us board the Searched Airline. Then when the next plane goes down, at least we can present the Darwin Award.

That would probably work exactly the opposite of what you anticipate, because those of us choosing Freedom Air would be armed with knives, guns, nail clippers and shampoo over 3 ounces just like in the old days before all this authority redistribution started. I can't imagine the Islamowacko that could stand up to guns, knives, nail clippers and shampoo, can you?

Even in Darwin’s universe an unyielding modesty serves the beneficial purpose of scheduling sexual behavior to a tolerable frequency by reducing encounters to those protected by familial claims of privilege, and if that is all modesty accomplished it would be worthy of protection.

But there is more to it than that. If we cannot preserve what makes us human, cannot keep what grants us dignity of being, the right and the power to protect our own person, and those we love, then your Darwin is no help to us at all.

Government tyranny is 10,000 times the threat that terrorist are. I’ll take the flight that performs limited, reasonable security, lets me exercise my 2A rights while flying, and profiles young Muslim men and then I’ll take my chances with the terrorists. I think the most uncomfortable part of the screen was the ‘inside the belt line’ screen, the purpose of which I am still not sure as he did not touch me there, but rather went around the inside of the belt line of my pants.

I had this done to me about 3 yrs ago, as I have a medal hip, and make the detector go off,I had me card in my hand, the guy was nice but I still had to get wanded and the belt check

Just so you know, our airports are so safe that a guy I know got on a plane with 3 knives in his carry-on. THe TSA totally missed them. They had 6-inch-long locking blades on them. Elias Mohammed Yusef was his name.
