Just like the Democrats and Republicans learned from the last two elections; actions have consequences. When the Germans got pushy in the 90’s and started making all kinds of demands for a condition for us to keep our bases there, we called their bluff and began pulling them out. Now is the time to cut off Incurlik and Ankara or at least begin talking about doing so. Included in the discussion is since we were not sure of the future of those bases, what’s the need for the shield?
For the first time in modern history, they would have to be sitting right in the middle of another Anglo-Muslim war that could change Instanbul back to Constantinople. The mis-trust of both sides for their past alliances and actions would make them the middle of the preverbial chessboard like France was for the European theatre of WWII.
U.S. out of Turkey.
Turkey out of NATO.
Muslims out of Constantinople.
