Wife raped, beaten: DA let us down

BURNET COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - In a gated community on the outskirts of Marble Falls, visitors need another gate code to get into Sandy and Bobby Doyal's home. A long gravel driveway leads to the top of a hill where the couple built their dream home.

It was a place they felt was quiet and secure -- until April 14, 2009.

"I had told Bobby that day that I felt safe here," said Sandy, a local nurse.

After the two went to bed, their dog started barking. Sandy, 49, woke and heard a noise inside the dark house that was somewhat lit by the full moon.

"I saw them right here in the living room. I saw the shadows," said Sandy.

How they snuck in is still a mystery. According to Burnet County investigators there were three men from El Salvador in their home: Alvaro Caceras, Gilbert Hernandez and Nuana Fuentes-Sanchez.

Sandy grabbed a Maglite flashlight while they jumped her husband in bed.

"By the time I could see what was going on, there were three men on him, and with what I saw, he should be dead," said Sandy.

Her 67-year-old husband's face and body was repeatedly hit with the butt of rifles the attackers brought with them. They went after Sandy, too. She said they covered her face with a pillowcase during the most traumatic part.

"They tied me up after they raped me. I wasn't sure how many had raped me, but it was over and over and over again," said Sandy.

We'll have to continue putting up with this kind of $hit until our government gets serious about building a wall along the border with Mexico as well as strictly enforcing all immigration laws.

How they snuck in is still a mystery.

Not much of a mystery.

All it takes is one 'contractor' hiring illegals for the grunt work, and either giving them the code, or letting them see you enter it.

They don't even have to be there. If the contractor is having a problem with drugs/gambling/whatever, he can sell your 'passcode' to criminals for money, or to stay alive.

Why didn't she grab the 357 Magnum and shoot?

When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.

Razor wire, land mines, savage dogs, and National Guard patrols with armored vehicles for the borders. Long overdue.

Illegal immigrants caught commiting violent crimes should be summarily executed as non-uniformed combattants, as allowed by the Geneva Convention.

When I lived in Spain, all homes and businesses had metal grills over floor level windows.

Block and brick walls were topped with broken glass, cemented in place.

Homes with flat roofs always had a dog, like a German Shepherd, a Rottweiler, or a Doberman Pinscher, patrolling the roof area.

Gated communities here are only safe to keep out private property respecting Americans.

We need laws that make felonies committed by illegal immigrants a federal crime with a minimum 5 year sentence with no parole and with stiffer sentences for felonies committed with force or where death or serious bodily injuries are sustained by the victims. To save costs illegal immigrants should be held in special prison camps, much like WW-II POW camps, with no amenities like TV,air conditioning etc. Perhaps if the illegals realize that if they commit any crime and are caught the consequences will be very severe.

Tragic story, sorry to husband and wife involved in the situation.

The lady said, “I had told Bobby that day that I felt safe here,” THIS may have been her undoing. We must remain vigilant, at all times, especially at night when the dog starts barking. She could have just as easily retrieved a firearm and Texas would be giving her a medal now instead of THIS tragic conclusion.

Needs to be said again: We MUST remain vigilant.

Why they are here: On July 10, 2010, the Temporary Protected Status (TPS), first granted nine years ago to Salvadoran immigrants, was extended for 18 months, to March 9, 2012, the office of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced Friday. TPS, which entitles beneficiaries (illegal aliens) to a work permit, can be conferred on “immigrants” from countries devastated by natural disasters or armed conflict.

I’m not surprised. They probably have the same mindset in both places.

"Illegal immigrants caught commiting violent crimes should be summarily executed..."

Agreed. Televise it and make sure Univision have a news crew filming the action for their viewers as well.

What? No sympathy for the rapists?

They were probably abused as children and treated as second-class citizens when they came to the US. No wonder they did what they did.

Years ago I remember “serenos” in Spain, night watchmen who patrolled a neighborhood. If you needed them to unlock a door or check something out, you clapped your hands loudly and they appeared. Very effective.

A new March trial date has been set, but only one suspect's case could be heard. The district attorney's office is planning on trying each suspect separately.

"This is the first communication we've received from the DA's office in months," said Sandy, looking at the stack of trial notices.

She does not carry much confidence the trial will happen nearly two years after the crime.

I am questioning the news coverage of this. Don't question the act, but the coverage. It is possible the escaped perp is being hunted. The typical DA here in TX has a reputation a bit different than what is described here. You don't try cases in the press, but justice in TX is not sympathetic to the criminals. (illegals or otherwise)
