The other day there was a FR thread on the TV show Dexter. THIS is why the show is so popular. It's about a serial killer who goes around doing what the court system more and more frequently cannot, will not and has not done - punish very bad people.

The one count he was convicted on carries a mandatory minimum of 20 years in prison, and a maximum of life. And there is no parole in the federal system.
