Say 'I Opt Out' of Airport Scanners on National Opt Out Day, November 24
Airport Business News ^ | 11-15-10 | AirportBusiness.com

Posted on 11/18/2010 8:44:23 AM PST by FS11

"Not only are these porno scanners a gross violation of individual privacy," said boycott co-founder George Donnelly, "they're also a threat to the health of millions of passengers and ineffective as well. The goal of the demonstrations is to urge Americans to exercise their legal right to 'opt out' of the scan."

If you have to fly on November 24, We Won't Fly urges you to opt out of the new scanners for your own health and privacy. Say "I opt out!" Be prepared for delays and intimate TSA "patdowns." If you're not flying on November 24, We Won't Fly urges you to tell your friends, family and community members who are flying. Organizers of local meetups can list their events on our nationwide map at http://WeWontFly.com/opt-out-day.

As University of California scientists noted earlier this year, the airport scanners may pose a serious health risk. "Our overriding concern is the extent to which the safety of this scanning device has been adequately demonstrated. This can only be determined by a meeting of an impartial panel of experts that would include medical physicists and radiation biologists at which all of the available relevant data is reviewed," they said in a letter of concern.

Well, so far Chuzzlewit has been called an IDIOT, A LOSER, A CHILD MOLESTER ENABLER, and a CHILD MOLESTER.

Maybe he/she doesn't think those posts deserve any return comment.

Chuzzlewit is correct. Many Freepers are letting their 'emotions' make them very childish.

I think what many object to viscerally is they illegally assume everyone is guilty and treated so.

It's a creeping Constitutional destruction thing.

Besides, it's documented an intel agent got the shoe bomber on the plane past security w/o proper documentation.

That and the fact that anything in Burka gets a pass means by default it's all a farce & an actionable fraud just asking for prosecution!

Some D.A.'s are already putting them on notice.

Ever heard of “sarcasm”?

Yes. But you didn't label it as such, and it wasn't obvious.

I did respond in an intelligent way, regardless.

Where is the probable cause in searching this mother? Where is the probable cause in searching a toddler?

That is the crux of the whole issue, isn't it?

If the TSA Agents did like the Israeli's and used highly effective observation, psychology skills, and profiling to ferret out possible suspects, none of this 'body search' would even be an issue.

No one seems to have a problem when the cops body search a suspect they have detained based on probable cause. Nor when they search the baby, and the baby car seat for drugs.

I just read and heard on the radio about a case of Cholera in the USA. What better way to spread disease than by the State militia touching you with their dirty and contaminated gloves at the airport of your choice? People are coming and going from all over the world. Who knows what diseases are coming with them.

Excellent point Ex-Tex. The more people TSA agents come in such close contact with (intimately), the higher chance of themselves and the people they are screening will be exposed to contagions - it's just common sense/logical.

The spread of Dengue Fever

We have a much larger population. We have jet airplanes as opposed to boats. So, the pandemics we experience now are far worse than anything we have experienced in the past.

Transmission of pandemic A/H1N1 2009 influenza on passenger aircraft - retrospective cohort study

Results Nine members of the school group were laboratory confirmed cases of pandemic A/H1N1 infection and had symptoms during the flight. Two other passengers developed confirmed pandemic A/H1N1 infection, 12 and 48 hours after the flight. They reported no other potential sources of infection. Their seating was within two rows of infected passengers, implying a risk of infection of about 3.5% for the 57 passengers in those rows. All but one of the confirmed pandemic A/H1N1 infected travellers reported cough, but more complex definitions of influenza cases had relatively low sensitivity. Rigorous follow-up by public health workers located 93% of passengers, but only 52% were contacted within 72 hours of arrival.

Flying with the flu

Attempting to ground planes during pandemics may not be worth the trouble, a panel of experts from the government, academia and the airlines industry heard at a recent meeting in Washington.

Biden - stay off subways during swine flu panic

Vice president Joe Biden said Thursday he would tell his family members not to use subways in the U.S. and implied schools should be shuttered as the swine flu outbreak spread to 16 states.

Let Chuzzlewit defend his or herself.

He has. He already stated that he was referring to PROFILING being more effective than RANDOM searching.

Besides, I'm not so much defending Chuzzlewit as defending what I have been saying WAY BEFORE this thread was even posted.

Everyone seems to be jumping on the "Don't grope me bro" bandwagon, and missing the REAL POINT.

That point being, we should be searching those MOST LIKELY to be carrying a bomb, not those LEAST LIKELY.

If it requires a body search, too bad. Accept it, or stay off the plane (it might save your life).

Those who think they have a RIGHT to fly, without being searched, also believe they have a RIGHT to drive, without a license, or vehicle tags, or insurance, or even be a citizen of the United States.

Instead of trying to STOP THE SEARCHES, we should be trying to stop the RANDOM searches.

How many bombs have been found by this PC-RANDOM SEARCH method?

Perhaps you were able to, so why didn’t you read ours as well?

I did.

Some here read into his comments, what they wanted to.

Some here agree with him. Some here are acting like children and jumping on the "don't grope me,bro", or the "I'll kill you if you touch my kid" bandwagon.

I didn't notice anyone responding to him(her) with questions asking what he meant. I saw several react with personal attacks, without even trying to read any other posts.

I saw some posters who were just DELIGHTED to think they were on the trail of a TROLL, and couldn't wait to ZOT him/her. Another 'jump on the bandwagon/knee jerk reaction' thing that is absolutely disgusting here on FR.

The REAL trolls are usually identified by JIM, or the MODS, or by multiple posters who have gone back and tracked down evidence.

This poster was ACCUSED based on one comment, and two previous comments BECAUSE he did a CUT AND PASTE. (OH, the HORROR).

They were wrong.

Ever had the cops search you ?

Nope. And if they did at the level the TSA is doing without due cause, there would be civil rights violation charges that would stick in a court of law.

Go back and Read the WHOLE thread UCANSEE2

Chuzzy made a stupid comment at the begining and didn’t answer anything—TROLL BEHAVIOR

Chuzzy made a stupid comment and didn’t defend it in any way— STUPID BEHAVIOR

So those of us on Zot patrol start looking and see the same comment on another TSA thread... BLOG PIMP OR TROLL BEHAVIOR.

CHUZZY being a long term freeper should know If you are gonna make stupid comments that do not make sense then at least defend them.

Kinda like you are doing even though it seems we agree on the TSA issue. we just got there in different ways.

How can anyone defend ignoring the 4th ammendment?

Ever go to a concert, and have them search your wife's purse?

What about the pilot's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Should EVERYONE just be allowed to get on the plane, without being searched?

Why is it that Israel has been successful at preventing any bombs on planes, when they don't do RANDOM PC (meaning no Muslims can be searched) SEARCHES???

Accept it, or stay off the plane (it might save your life).

There are still other alternative solutions that can be considered.

These searches are being carried out at airports by the government in violation of the everyone's constitutional rights, not by the airlines. If a plane does blow up, shouldn't it be the responsibility of the airline to ensure that they are providing a responsible and safe service?

Why do you think it is up to the government to declare everyone guilty until proven innocent just because they want to fly on an airplane, when the airlines are private businesses and the airplanes are private property?

I've been to airports in Europe (such as Schiphol in Amsterdam) where the screening is done at the gate, and the airport is essentially an open-air mall. I can't say whether it was the Dutch government or the airline itself that ran the gate-specific screening areas, but pushing the screening out to the airlines would take the government out of the equation, and it would be up to each airline to decide how invasive they wish to be without making it a federal or constitutional issue.

That is not a federal government entity doing the search. As is with the 1st amendment, the protections don't apply to individuals dealing with other individuals, only the people vs the federal (or state in many cases) governments.

I think the issue for those who have reacted so childishly to your comment, is that you were a little too brief in your first comment, and that led to a lot of misinterpretation.

Searching a purse isn’t searching a vagina.

I have never said that we don’t need to be searched I said the intrusion is what needs to be stopped.

There is no reason to touch vaginas and penis’ of two yearolds or 80 year olds.

MUSLIM terrorist are the problem not toddlers and homeschool moms.

And I am not going to allow my children and wife to be gaped at or groped by the federal government.

Then demand the TSA use the proper resources to PROFILE and SELECT possible terrorists to search, instead of randomly selecting babies and nuns to search.

Trying to get people not to fly, and demanding that the TSA just quit searching everybody, won't save one life.

What posters are those, who you claim “think they own FR”?

The ones on here who declared Chuttlewiz a TROLL,based on one comment. The one's here who made personal attacks on Chuttlewiz, and told him/her to STFU.

I can list their posts, if you would like.
