Rick Perry open to sending the US military into Mexico

Gov. Rick Perry says he's open to the idea of sending U.S. troops into Mexico to fight the drug war. The Texas governor told MSNBC this morning that border violence has escalated dramatically since George W. Bush was governor a decade ago. He said more aggressive federal tactics are needed. "You have a situation on the border where American citizens are being killed, and you didn't see that back when George Bush was the governor," he said.

Host Chuck Todd asked whether Perry would advocate military involvement on the Mexican side of the border. Perry responded: "I think we have to have any aspect of law enforfement that we have including the military. I think we have the same situation we had in Columbia. Obviously, Mexico has to approve any type of assistance that we can give them. But the fact of the matter is these are people who are highly motivated for money, they are viscious, they are armed to the teeth. And I want to see them defeated. And any means we can to run these people off our border and to save Americans' lives we have to be engaged in."

Perry made the comments while in San Diego where he's attending the Republican Governors Association, which he will chair for the next year. The governor dodged a question about whether he believes national GOP chairman Michael Steele should be replaced. But on the matter of whether the Texas governor wants to be president, Perry was Perryesque -- his word, Perryesque. When the governor said he won't run for president, Todd asked if his refusal was Shermanesque. Perry didn't seem to understand.

If we just enforced our border, it would help a lot.

Just as these left wing sycophants cannot accept the fact that we are engaged in a war on terror, they too cannot accept that there is a cartel war being waged on our border.

Rick Perry open to sending the US military into Mexico

Is that with or without Mexican permission?

I say that the legislature simply extends castle doctrine so that lethal response is sanctioned for use against drug runners and human smuggling across one's property and the property owner is protected against malicious prosecution by zealous liberal prosecutors.

Since Texas law permits deadly force against perps involved in "mischief at night", theoretically allowing a homeowner to legally gun down teenagers toilet papering the yard at midnight, it doesn't seem to be all that big a change to add wording regarding "smuggling" to the existing law.

A few ambitious ranchers testing this new enforcement tool would bring the drug and human smuggling rings to a halt in Texas, shifting it to Arizona, New Mexico and that the state formerly known as California. The beauty is that no LEOs would be needed to police our borders.

Heck, I could see some enterprising land-holders sell off the equivalent of deer leases to certain minded "hunters". All legit too. The .50BMG with BORS and infrared scopes in civilian hands wouldn't be just for hunting ground-hogs anymore.

We should “enforce our border” from about 15 miles south of it...

We need a government of Constitutionalists representing our interests rather than a government of Marxist idealists forcing theirs.

Then and only then will we see sanity in our government.

We will have to pull the chain multiple election cycles in the future to flush all the self serving, and the Marxist supporters out of the bowl, and then eliminate their accumulated Leftist mischief.

At what point do we realize that Mexico’s state and federal authorities, even with their army, cannot maintain order in the northern states?

Will it come to the point that UN peacekeepers are called for? Will Communist China jump at the opportunity to supply a bunch of troops to a northern Mexico peace-keeping mission?

Would we veto any such move at the UN and then send in our own “peace keepers”?

“Rick Perry is the biggest phony you ever saw. He could have easily passed the Arizona Law here and chickened out!! He is horrible.”
He could have, but you have to remember he was running for election.
It’s all about power, and 20111 will be about redistricting.
Perry is not what I wanted in a governor, but he will help wipe out democRAT strongholds in this gerrymandered state.
That is very important!

If only Perry would have been Texas Gov. the last 10 years! He would have stopped the illegals! Rick is such a conservative! He could have stopped that Trans-Texas thing dead and kept someone from trying to make young Texas women take Guardasil. Rick Perry for president! He’d be at least as good as Jeb Bush! Perry is no RINO or CINO! And the last thing he would ever ever do is start acting like a conservative and advocating things he has never talked about just because a presidential election is on the horizon.

/sarcasm off

What we really need are MUST find are better options to begin with so that we do not have to SETTLE for progressive Rhino’s as our ‘lesser of the evil’ candidates.

Shouldn’t we try a wall first? And troops on this side of the border?

Perry seriously needs to step away from the hair spray. Just enforce border and kick out the illegals already here. We don’t need to set foot inside Mexico to solve the problem.

Hey, advocating a war with Mexico would not get him elected. I think he’s worried about an infiltration of drug lords that Obama is permitting to take place. Those dillies murder Governors.
